Experience description:

Out-of-body experience

I was working on my computer at night and all the sudden I felt very tired. I noticed bright lights coming through the bathroom window. The orientation of the room and bathroom, in my dream, were correct but you cant usually see from one to the other because there are doors in the way. Earlier in the evening in real life there was a fire truck that went by as we were having dinner and I noticed the red lights as there was no siren. I thought I saw the same lights go by in the dream, only in the opposite direction from this evening as if the fire truck was leaving the neighborhood.

I looked out but I couldnt see anything. All the sudden, I tried to walk back to my room but this feeling of being very tired took me over completely and I nearly collapsed on the bathroom floor. The tiles on the floor were accurate.

Immediately, I was dreaming that I was having an OBE. My father came to me and told me to test if this was really an OBE by looking into the next room, my bedroom, and looking for a ball on the floor and telling him what color it was.

I moved to the next room and there were all these toys spread around the floor. Again, the orientation of everything is correct but we keep the babys toys in buckets. I located several balls but my father was right there picking up a different ball and saying this is the one I want you to locate.

At this point I felt I had control in the dream and I had the feeling of taking some toys from the group and writing out the word red on the floor with the toys. The ball, though, was not a single red color. It had batches of white, green, and red. We actually have a ball that seems something like that but its down in the living room along with the particular toy I was thinking of using to write out the word red. I stopped thinking I had proved enough and thought it was time to end the dream.

I was curious in my dream how could it be possible, if this was a dream, that I was able to communicate with my father. I thought to myself: shouldnt he be asleep? Well, my father is dead maybe thats why!

I started going towards the bathroom again as if to pass through the wall. The whole time, motion was like floating. Instead of passing through the wall, though, I got stuck in this dark fabric. It reminded me if being in my sons stroller and trying to pass through it very weird feeling. Also, there was a strange sound as if stretching rubber cant really explain it.

Suddenly, I started rising through the sky. I was looking upward into the stars. It felt incredible. Somehow, the OBE was continuing.

There was a whoosh sound as I was flying through the air and was as if I was being floated backwards looking up. It felt incredible. I could see the stars and I started flying through some dense trees.  I thought to myself this is so incredible; why cant we recall these experiences every night; they would be very beneficial to us. I was still semi-conscious in the dream.

Apart from the sound of the wind going by as if traveling fast with the window down in the car, there was also the constant sound of my heavy breathing through my nose. As I write this note on my computer, I noticed that my sinuses are congested and I sound like I did in the dream. Very interesting.

I started wondering if I can control this, where should I direct myself. Ive always thought in the past that as soon as I had an OBE, the first thing I want to do is see my father. So, I thought in the dream that I should do that. I was also careful about the mechanics of the situation so I wouldnt wake myself out of it. I was careful to stay calm, breath and just let my body relax.

As I type this, I recall feeling I had a body as I was flying though. I explicitly remember trying to keep my left arm relaxed as I was flying backwards into the night so as not to wake up.  I started gaining elevation and I started seeing the moon-lit clouds in front of me going by very fast actually, it was I going by them very fast. I decided I wanted to go far up and outside the earth. I said to myself I want to leave earth.

It happened. I could see earth down bellow me as a round globe like you see in pictures from space satellites. I felt this uneasy feeling that I didnt want to leave my home behind but all the sudden I was absolutely stunned. I saw a bright orange planet hiding behind earth and then a red one on the other side. I got amazingly excited in my dream as these colors were just beautiful.

I told myself I wanted to go to the red planet (or the orange, I dont remember which one I said.) At that point, I expected to slowly see the planet coming into view. Instead, I find myself looking through a sky at night as if I was back on earth in the night time.

As I was flying, I could see lights from cities and as I was going back in great speeds, I noticed what seemed like a part of a city raised off the ground. There were lights in geometric patterns I think the lights were green. It was a green city floating in the sky.

I thought to myself my god, what has our government done? We have such hidden cities so people cant see them? I tried to understand where that place was based on the looks of the land below and my mind wanted to say that it looked almost like it was a hanging city right above Alcatraz in San Francisco. Only then I realized that I wasnt on earth. I knew that was nothing like any place on earth. I flew more and saw many more of these suspended, floating cities and they were all lit in geometric matters in red, green, and other colors. The geometric patterns were like octagons with intersecting lines of lights connecting the points.

At that point, I heard the sound of my cat Perky trying to open our bathroom door. I woke up back in my bed. I was furious that he woke me up something he does often. Then I realized that maybe I remembered this dream because of him. So, I got out and sat on my computer to type this.

Thank you Perky!

My god, I am just stunned with this dream and I have chills going through my body still as I type this up. This was a very different experience than my usual dreams. My dreams are always distant. This felt like I had some conscious presence and control.

The experience of going through the woods at night and the cool breeze going through the face was remarkable. I could sense the crispness of the cool air of coastal San Diego at nights. If this was a dream, then it was the most lucid Ive ever had. I literally felt the cool air, I heard the sound of wind while traveling fast, and I saw the stars and the moonlit trees and clouds. This was a multi-sensory experience.

But the most remarkable part was seeing glimpses of the planets from the sky. They looked so close. They didnt look like you see them in astronomy magazines. They werent lifeless. When I saw the red and orange planets, I could see the halo created by their light as the hid behind the earth. I only caught glimpses of them for what seemed like a fraction of a second but they were enough to get etched in my brain.

Then the elevated city experience what can I possibly say about that? That is nothing like anything Ive ever seen in a science fiction movie. This was truly a unique fabrication of my imagination.   This experience has left me with this thought: I want more!

What emotions did you feel during the experience?            Very excited and happy. I was cautious not to do anything to wake myself up.

Did you see a light?           No

Did you meet or see any other beings?           No

Did you experiment while out of the body or in another, altered state? Yes

Did you observe or hear anything regarding people or events during your experience that could be verified later?          No

Did you notice how your 5 senses were working, and if so, how were they different?          Yes

Not different. I could see and hear things normally. I also had this sense of feeling the crispness of the air. I live near the coast in California and the air is always crisp at night. It felt just like that in the dream.

Did you have any psychic, paranormal or other special gifts following the experience that you did not have prior to the experience?         No

Did you have any changes of attitudes or beliefs following the experience?   Yes

I can't wait to have another one. While having the experience, I specifically remember thinking that it's so amazing out there so why can't we remember these experiences more often? I felt that they would be beneficial to us.

Has your life changed specifically as a result of your experience?         Yes

This has helped me continue to try to have OBEs and learn from these experiences. I've read about them over the years and I've built a belief around them. This experience is helping me solidify my belief that such an experience is possible. Even if this was a dream, my mind fabricated the most amazing experience. Even if there is no spiritual meaning, I still have to accept that our minds are absolutely amazing.

Have you shared this experience with others?         Yes

My wife and a couple of close friends, one of which has been having OBEs and precognition all her life. She would be a good research candidate.

What emotions did you experience following your experience?  I was very excited. I ran to my computer and typed the experience up at 2:30am. I remember my hair sticking up as if I had the chills. I wasn't scared though -- more of an adrenaline rush.

What was the best and worst part of your experience?      Best part is that I remembered it. No bad part to it ther than it ended.

Following the experience, have you had any other events in your life, medications or substances which reproduced any part of the experience?         No

Did the questions asked and information you provided accurately and comprehensively describe your experience?               Yes
