Experience description:

In the middle of my sleep, I started hearing this song I know from a band named Spiritualized, 'You Know It's True' is the title. It is a beautiful song that is sung like a soothing lullaby. The sound of the song filled the room. I woke and realized it was not coming from my mind, rather it was coming from some source outside of myself. However, the “source' had no directionality and it was coming from and permeating all areas of the room simultaneously. Here are the lyrics:

You know I've been here before

And I don't like it anymore

You know its true, but what could I do

You know I've felt this before

And I don't need it anymore

You know it's true, I love you

I love you, I love you

The sound of this being sung to me woke me and hearing it filled me with this beautiful, full-bodied sensation. It was like a full-body orgasm. It was blissful. Amazing. I laid there listening and experiencing this sensation for quite a few minutes. My logical mind had not been turned on yet so there was no fear.

Then a light came from above. I lived far away in the woods on many acres with no neighbors. The light came from the ceiling and seemed to open up from the Heavens (because I can't describe it in any other way than “Heavens'). I looked up and there were several creatures appearing from above. They were looking down at me. They were not human, but I am not sure what they were. They were human-like. They weren't harming me; they were just looking down and observing me. I cannot remember how many, but there were several. I could not see their faces because there was such a bright light behind them they only appeared as silhouettes.

At this point, my logical mind switched back on and a terror came over me. I tried to scream but I was paralyzed. Nothing could come out. As this was happening the music and orgasmic feeling was still there, but they slowly started to fade. I continued to try to scream and felt extremely terrified.

Then they disappeared and the light slowly began to fade. A tall, blonde woman walked through the doorway from my living room into my bedroom. She was extremely graceful and seemed to be wearing something of a white lab coat. It was also gown-like. What was left of the music disappeared, and I still was feeling some of the effects of the bliss as she walked across the (large) room to the far side of my bed. She sat down on the side of it to comfort me.

Her presence was extremely calming. All of the terror left and I felt safe and protected. She spoke to the other beings (who were no longer visible) and said, 'she is not ready.' It was very disappointing to hear this. I may have told her that I think I was ready.

She felt incredible to be next to. She was absolutely calm and peaceful. She could be absolutely trusted. She treated me like a child and I knew that I could not convince her that I was ready. She sat here for a while touching me soothingly. I must have fallen back asleep because I do not remember anything after this.

 Any associated medications or substances with the potential to affect the experience?      No     

Was the kind of experience difficult to express in words?          No     

At the time of this experience, was there an associated life threatening event? No     

What was your level of consciousness and alertness during the experience?    fully conscious and aware

            Was the experience dream like in any way?  I was awakened by it from sleep, but as soon as I was awake it did not resemble a dream.

 Did you experience a separation of your consciousness from your body?   No     

What emotions did you feel during the experience?          love, fear, terror, peace, bliss, surprise, disappointment, euphoria, contentment, awe, warmth, readiness, revelation, serenity…

 Did you hear any unusual sounds or noises?         Yes, I heard the voice of an angelic woman and I heard music.

 LOCATION DESCRIPTION:  Did you recognize any familiar locations or any locations from familiar religious teachings or encounter any locations inhabited by incredible or amazing creatures?         Yes    There were creatures coming from a portal of light above me.

 Did you see a light?        Yes    It was a bright white light that came from an opening in the ceiling.  The woman in the vision also had a 'light' but it was not like a physical light, if that makes sense.

 Did you meet or see any other beings?         Yes    See above for details.

There was a group of beings that were nonhuman but I could not easily see them because of the bright light that put them in silhouette.  They were foreign to me. I was afraid of them despite the fact they were not threatening me.  They were silently observing me from above. 

The other being was a woman who I could clearly see.  She was very kind and communicated love, care and guardianship.  She sat by my bedside and comforted me.

 Did you experiment while out of the body or in another, altered state?         No     

Did you observe or hear anything regarding people or events during your experience that could be verified later?          No     

Did you notice how your 5 senses were working, and if so, how were they different? Yes    The senses were heightened.  And they seemed to extend beyond the physical in some way.

 Did you have any sense of altered space or time?  Yes          Altered space because light was present that could not be explained and space was altered because the physical opened up to a portal of light.

 Did you have a sense of knowing, special knowledge, universal order and/or purpose?         Yes    I was told that I was not ready and it gave me the understanding that in the future I would be ready to receive something that they were there to give…that might give me direction and purpose…hard to explain this.

 Did you reach a boundary or limiting physical structure?           Yes    my body.  I felt trapped inside of it for a brief moment of time.

 Did you become aware of future events?      No     

Were you involved in or aware of a decision regarding your return to the body?          No      Did you have any psychic, paranormal or other special gifts following the experience that you did not have prior to the experience?            Uncertain     Nothing dramatic but I have been building these such 'gifts' since the encounter…yet I never placed the event with this experience as the trigger.  I have had other contacts since.

 Did you have any changes of attitudes or beliefs following the experience?     Yes    I felt as though I had a purpose.  This is hard to explain as well.

 How has the experience affected your relationships? Daily life? Religious practices? Career choices?   It is hard to say, because this was after a dramatic and traumatic period in my life (which is undoubtedly also contributed to directional changes in life), but since that time in my life I have become more spiritually directed, my career path changed to one that is working with spiritual/esoteric practices, I have deepened my studies, I have become more open about expressing this part of myself (I used to hold it close).  I have been on a path of spiritual development since this period in life…

 Has your life changed specifically as a result of your experience? Yes    It has awakened me further to the nonphysical dimensions of existence

 Have you shared this experience with others?       Yes          most people are interested and perhaps amazed by what I have shared but I don't think their personal impact has been deeply affected by it.

 What emotions did you experience following your experience? inspiration, excitement, curiosity, wonder, impatience, ambition…

 What was the best and worst part of your experience?          the worst part was that I was told I was not ready and that I am still wondering what it was that would be revealed to me.  The best part was the feeling of love and bliss

 Following the experience, have you had any other events in your life, medications or substances which reproduced any part of the experience?       No
