Experience description:

I'm 58 now. when I was in my late 20s or early 30s, I had what was a half dream half awake experience while in bed thinking I was sleeping but being fully awake, not in body but in my mind maybe astral travel, not sure. I've only had this experience once never to be repeated again even I tried several times later.. I SAW a most powerfully bright golden white light..but not a earthly light because this did not hurt the eyes. a thought from somewhere told me I can turn the light up as high as I wish there is no limit and this light is LOVE which is also God. The more love I wanted all I had to do is turn up this light..then I was told I could have anything I desired and I said this is fine. I don't want anything else and I stayed in the light until I was ready to leave and just woke up on the bed...my imagination is not powerfully enough to do this myself so I believe I experienced something..I feel it was the light of God or God consciousness whatever it's called..I felt Jesus was there in the light too. The most amazing feeling was this love was unconditional and for me in abundance..it's hard to describe. The light was brighter than what you can imagine yet never hurt the eyes..pure love unconditional that's the whole story. I had been reading some books by Carlos Castaneda at this time but I don't know if this had any direct influence..I don't feel this was a near death experience as I was in good health and I was not aware of floating or anything strange other than this happening. Not aware of any major events in my life that proceeded this. Yes it DID change my perspective for a long time on the Power of God..I was left with the feeling that LOVE is the most powerful force there is. My attitude was changed about death in that I wasn't afraid of this event. I could FEEL Jesus behind the light but I have no idea if the thoughts were his or something else or my own. The experience was so positive that I tried a few times later to recreate this But I don't think I was successful. This I DO feel was meant for me perhaps to give me hope or a more positive feeling in life.

At the time of your experience was there an associated life-threatening event?   Uncertain  I don't remember if I was suicidal at the time but I had been off an on since age 16. At age 16 I attempted suicide. I may or may not have been in this state of mind at the time, I don't recall. I was only told I had depression a year or so later, until this point I did not know what depression was or if I had it..

Was the experience difficult to express in words?  Yes     I SAW a most powerfully bright golden white light..but not a earthly light because this did not hurt the eyes. a thought from somewhere told me I can turn the light up as high as I wish there is no limit and this light is LOVE which is also God. At what time during the experience were you at your highest level of consciousness and alertness?         The entire time from start to finish..I felt as if I could stay forever but I think I stayed in this light or experience for 20 minutes more or less. Since I took away what I believe was the core message of the event..that God is light and light is love and love is the most powerful force in the universe  I had no more reason to stay in this awareness..

How did your highest level of consciousness and alertness during the experience compare to your normal everyday consciousness and alertness?      More consciousness and alertness than normal   I felt as if I could stay forever but I think I stayed in this light or experience for 20 minutes more or less. Since I took away what I believe was the core message of the event..that God is light and light is love and love is the most powerful force in the universe  I had no more reason to stay in this awareness..

Please compare your hearing during the experience to your everyday hearing that you had immediately prior to the time of the experience.   No difference that I know of. the communication was all thoughts either my own or some other source.

Did you see or hear any earthly events that were occurring during a time that your consciousness / awareness was apart from your physical / earthly body?   No

Did you pass into or through a tunnel?   Uncertain   I don't recall what happened before I saw the light in what felt like a dream state yet I was fully awake with eyes closed laying on my bed  so I'm uncertain what happened before this happened

Did you seem to encounter a mystical being or presence, or hear an unidentifiable voice?   I encountered a definite being, or a voice clearly of mystical or unearthly origin

Did you encounter or become aware of any beings who previously lived on earth who are described by name in religions (for example: Jesus, Muhammad, Buddha, etc.)?   Yes   I felt Jesus was there in the light' That's all the detail I have on Jesus..nut I felt as if he was just behind the light but a small part of the energy that made up the light. He did not speak unless the thoughts I had were his. I saw only a golden white light and no human shapes.

Did you encounter or become aware of any deceased (or alive) beings?   No

Did you seem to enter some other, unearthly world?   A clearly mystical or unearthly realm

How accurately do you remember the experience in comparison to other life events that occurred around the time of the experience?   I remember the experience more accurately than other life events that occurred around the time of the experience.   It was a simple event experience that I recall to this day but can't recall any normal events before or after wards that are important.

Discuss any changes that might have occurred in your life after your experience:   it DID change my perspective for a long time on the Power of God..I was left with the feeling that LOVE is the most powerful force there is. My attitude was changed about death in that I wasn't afraid of this event.  I DO feel was meant for me perhaps to give me hope or a more positive feeling in life.

Have you ever shared this experience with others?   Yes  just recently on Facebook with a post to my friends and a facebook group  Signs of reincarnation.  A few people has commented they are amazed by the story and a few said they had the same or close experience..all believe I am telling the truth. At least one person said they believe I had an encounter with God

Did you have any knowledge of near death experience (NDE) prior to your experience?   Yes   I had only read about NDE  but don't recall and actual direct experience with NDE
