EXPERIENCE DESCRIPTION:

I DON'T KNOW IF THIS COUNTS because I was not near death, but it was such a similar experience I thought yo might like to know it.

I was in an extremely EXTREMELY painful and difficult emotional and psychological state brought about by tremendous loss.  I felt I was on a frozen tundra all the time with no hope.  I started meditating using Binaural beats and was able to reach very deep meditative levels.   I was just destroyed and finding it difficult to get my bearings in my life and get over the pain.

Once night I was going deep and at some point I felt myself lift out of my body.  I was then walking amongst the planets, like a giant with big feet, walking around the solar system and seeing all of it.  This was a surprise to me but I enjoyed it and right away I could tell something big was happening. I was soon funneled into an early beach like setting. A tropical beach with a sailboat is often what I visualize to relax.  There was a stone tunnel, sort of like a natural arch, not very long but definitely it was an entrance to something and this time it was a beautiful cover, all white and shining.  There were beings all around the cover, smiling and nodding to me.  They looked like gorgeous young people with white shirts and jeans on but they were beings of light, I knew that.

They were all saying to me, you're seeing the 'wood between the worlds' to quote Magician's nephew (one of the Narnia books - it's not surprising to me that the imagery from those books comes to me), and that I was there to be introduced to what was going to happen.  I was not in danger of death but I was trying to let go of all the pain I felt.  They said you're doing fine, when you die you come here and we review everything for you but it's not time yet, they kept nodding and smiling and I felt a kind of love I never felt before - I can't even recall it now I just know it was something very special, it ws like light was shining through me out of every pore.

I stood there with tears streaming down my face, I was so happy and I was so glad I was sort of on the right track and understood things.

I don't recall how it ended, I did not go back through the tunnel I think it just stopped and I was back in my body and the binaural beats tape was ending.

At the time of your experience was there an associated life-threatening event?   No

Was the experience difficult to express in words?  Yes     I almost don't have words to say what I felt, I can say what happened but now what was said to me, I can only use my very limited words and I'm a talker and very eloquent so it's surprising I had no words.

During your experience, did you encounter any specific information / awareness that you either did (or did not) exist prior to this lifetime?   Yes   I believe in reincarnation and this experience confirmed it - I was in a life and had lives before

During your experience, did you encounter any specific information / awareness that a mystical universal connection or unity/oneness either does (or does not) exist?   Yes   Wow it ws so obvious that the Hindu concept (and now theoretical physical says the same thing) that the Universe is One Unit - we are all connected but not God, more of a Force, a Oneness

During your experience, did you encounter any specific information / awareness regarding earthly life’s difficulties, challenges, or hardships?   No

Did you have a sense of knowing special knowledge or purpose?   No

What occurred during your experience included:   Content that was entirely consistent with the beliefs you had at the time of your experience

How accurately do you remember the experience in comparison to other life events that occurred around the time of the experience?   I remember the experience as accurately as other life events that occurred around the time of the ex

Discuss any changes that might have occurred in your life after your experience:   It took me several more years to get back on my feet emotionally and psychically but I knew I KNEW now that things were as I had perceived and believed them. Just the knowledge is enough.  Life is still a struggle, although not nearly as painful as during that period, and whenever I get down, I think of that experience

My experience directly resulted in:   Moderate changes in my life

Did you have any changes in your values or beliefs after the experience that occurred as a result of the experience?
No

Do you have any psychic, non-ordinary or other special gifts after your experience that you did not have before the experience?   No

Are there one or several parts of your experience that are especially meaningful or significant to you?
Comfort, healing, feeling of joy, feeling of light

Have you ever shared this experience with others?
Yes  a couple of years

Did you have any knowledge of near death experience (NDE) prior to your experience?   Yes   I do a lot of reading on anything like this so I knew about it

What did you believe about the reality of your experience shortly (days to weeks) after it happened:   Experience was definitely real   I was still processing it but it did help get me 'over the hump.'  It's not like I woke up the next day completely healed, but it was a turning point.  My ideas back then were on the right track but more of a jumble.  Now I have sorted them out and I am trying to live with loving kindness and compassion, paying it forward, etc.

What do you believe about the reality of your experience at the current time:   Experience was definitely real   Because, as Dumbledor said to Harry 'Of course this experience is happening in your head but why would you think that means it wasn't real?'

Have your relationships changed specifically as a result of your experience?   Yes   I'm kinder and more compassionate

Have your religious beliefs/spiritual practices changed specifically as a result of your experience?   No

At any time in your life, has anything ever reproduced any part of the experience?   No

Is there anything else that you would like to add about your experience?   I am very curious as to how this fits I with NDEs because as I said it ws so similar.  But clearly I was lying my bed and not in danger of dying.  I knew that and so did the beings of light.

Did the questions asked and information that you provided accurately and comprehensively describe your experience?   Yes   But a bit repetitive

What could a national organization with an interest in near death experience (NDE) do that would be of interest to you?     Oh wow - research? Sharing?
