Experience description:

I was napping on my parent's couch one bright winter day. I had been studying for an exam and had fallen asleep not  an unusual habit after much reading.  This particular day I remember feeling very heavy.. in a lucid state..realizing that I was about to go deep into sleep state yet very much aware of my mental awareness. 

Suddenly I remember being at the top of the ceiling looking down at my body sleeping.  I remember this beautiful vibrant silver-sparkling cord that was from my throat area to a point behind this point of consciences. I was very scared because I thought if I was here then what is my body doing on the couch. I remember not having a care in the world nor felt any emotional attachment to my body, which is surprising since I am somewhat vain at the time.  My sense of hearing was magnified as I heard my mother  in the kitchen..preparing dinner and hearing the pots banging loudly.  I was mesmerized  by this beautiful vibrant alive chord yet scared that my body was not taking in oxygen and that I was dead.  Fearing that my mother would come into the room at the same time staring at this cord that came to my face or point in space where my face would be...the cord went through my point of consciences and floated in back .. I was curious what was behind me and remember looking behind this point I was suspended at..and it was totally void. That scared me so much that I instantly jolted back into my body.

At the time of this experience, was there an associated life threatening event?          No

What was your level of consciousness and alertness during the experience?           This was not a dream...I was more conscious than I am on a daily basis

            Was the experience dream like in any way?   Not at all....I was so alert and very aware of everything....This was not a dream

Did you experience a separation of your consciousness from your body?     Yes

No emotional attachment at all.. like seeing a hair in your brush..It's apart of you yet you don't care

What emotions did you feel during the experience?            Somewhat scared and curious

Did you hear any unusual sounds or noises?           Yes..LOUD very loud auditory perception of my mother in the other room cooking.

Did you notice how your 5 senses were working, and if so, how were they different?         

Not sure about olfactory. Yet hearing and vision very acute.

Did you have any sense of altered space or time?   Yes

Space was distorted. After the experience I felt like I was in the rafters in the house yet it was the ceiling.

Did you reach a boundary or limiting physical structure?             No

Yet I was very concerned about the chord not leaving my body.

Were you involved in or aware of a decision regarding your return to the body?       Yes

I felt I willed myself back

Did you have any psychic, paranormal or other special gifts following the experience that you did not have prior to the experience?         Uncertain
