EXPERIENCE DESCRIPTION:

I was approximately six years old and had a very high fever.  It was night time and I was in my bed, sleeping.  The next thing I knew I was up above the Earth, floating in outer space. The Earth was absolutely beautiful!  The colors I remember most were shades of blue.  Then the halo of light around the Earth was lighter and lighter blue - then glowing white - with the blackness of space all around it. I felt that there was at least one other being with me, but I couldn't see him or her, like it was behind me.  I remember the air temperature was PERFECT out there.  It just felt heavenly.  Then (remember, I was a small child) I realized I wasn't at home with my parents.  I felt the most extreme amount of loneliness and frantically wished to go back home.

At that time I looked downward and saw the most beautiful silver cord.  It looked a lot like tinsel.  I also liken it to polished chrome, but flexible like a rope.  Then I zoomed back to my body.  I don't recall having a feeling of falling but of flying down to my body.  I woke up right then and felt a bit out of breath.  I felt a sense of deep relief to be back in my bed again. My only fear was that I would be alone (without my parents).  I do not remember actually leaving or entering my body.  Overall, it was a beautiful experience that I will never forget.

Was the kind of experience difficult to express in words? Yes     It was indescribably beautiful. The Earth was GIGANTIC.

At the time of this experience, was there an associated life threatening event?          Uncertain      I was a small child with a very high fever.

At what time during the experience were you at your highest level of consciousness and alertness?    While floating in space gazing at the Earth. Then suddenly realizing I was not with my family. (Really, the whole time I wasn't in my body).

How did your highest level of consciousness and alertness during the experience compare to your normal every day consciousness and alertness?    Normal consciousness and alertness

If your highest level of consciousness and alertness during the experience was different from your normal every day consciousness and alertness, please explain:            While floating in space gazing at the Earth. Then suddenly realizing I was not with my family. (Really, the whole time I wasn't in my body).

Did your vision differ in any way from your normal, everyday vision (in any aspect, such as clarity, field of vision, colors, brightness, depth perception degree of solidness/transparency of objects, etc.)?  Uncertain      Well, I've never been suspended in space over the Earth before, so I'm not sure if it differs from known reality.

Did your hearing differ in any way from your normal, everyday hearing (in any aspect, such as clarity, ability to recognize source of sound, pitch, loudness, etc.)?
Uncertain      I don't recall hearing anything.  But I didn't notice a lack of hearing either.

Did you experience a separation of your consciousness from your body?     Yes

What emotions did you feel during the experience?            Blissfulness.  Peace.  Tranquility.  Then extreme loneliness.  Fear.

Did you pass into or through a tunnel or enclosure?          No

Did you see a light?           No

Did you meet or see any other beings?           Uncertain      I felt as if someone else was there with me. I felt as though it was behind me.  No communication that I can remember.

Did you experience a review of past events in your life?    No

Did you observe or hear anything regarding people or events during your experience that could be verified later?          No       It was night time and everyone in the house was asleep.

Did you see or visit any beautiful or otherwise distinctive locations, levels or dimensions?            Yes     Floating blissfully above the beautiful Earth.

Did you have any sense of altered space or time?   Yes     I do not know how long I was floating there. It could have been hours or minutes.  I had no sense of time.

Did you have a sense of knowing special knowledge, universal order and/or purpose?     No       I wish. ;)

Did you reach a boundary or limiting physical structure? No

Did you become aware of future events?       No

Did you have any psychic, paranormal or other special gifts following the experience you did not have prior to the experience?     Uncertain      I was just a small child. I have had a handful of out of body experiences in my life and I consider myself "mildly psychic" or maybe just sensitive to people and situations (including sensitivity to spirits) .  But I don't know if those gifts were there before this happened or not. I also cannot remember if one of my OOBE's was before this or not.

Have you shared this experience with others?         Yes     I tried to tell my mother 30 years later and she said it was a dream. That made me feel bad because I know it wasn't. I shared with a friend recently who was receptive and that made me feel good.  I think it just depends upon whether the person believes in that sort of thing or not.

Did you have any knowledge of near death experience (NDE) prior to your experience?    No

How did you view the reality of your experience shortly (days to weeks) after it happened:            Experience was definitely real    I didn't really think about it very much until just recently. I don't really know why.
