Experience description:
I
was 8 years old and I was attending a pool party for my brother's baseball team.
I was very impressed that the owners of the home had a pool because not a lot of
people had private pools where I lived. I was very excited to get into the pool
but knew that I could not swim. So, I asked the girl who lived next door, when
she was getting out of the pool, if the water was over my head. She said, "no"
and I jumped in. As an adult I realize that this girl was 4 years older than I
and much taller, and she didn't realize that the water was too deep for a non
swimmer. Anyway, I jumped in and sank to the bottom of the pool. I pushed off
with my feet to reach the surface but only the top of my head could reach the
top. Then I remembered that the cartoons showed someone drowning and they would
but up fingers for each time they surfaced. By the third finger someone always
rescued them. So, I tried this over three times and of course no one came to my
aid. By this time my lungs were burning and I felt total panic! With this I took
a big gulp of water and that is when I heard the most wonderful music! Peace
surrounded me and the panic resolved. I was so excited because I thought the
people who owned the pool had hired an orchestra to play at the pool side. This
probably happened over seconds but seemed more like minutes as I listened to the
music. It flooded my soul with it's beauty and I have never heard anything as
beautiful again in my lifetime. After some time a voice spoke to me. I now know
that it was through telepathy. It was a loving, wonderful kind voice and it
said, "You cannot swim on top of the water but you know how to swim underneath.
Why don't you swim up where you can touch?"
I
rejoiced in this moment because I realized the voice was correct. So, I swam to
the shallow end and was finally able to reach the surface of the water and
crawled up steps out of the pool. I was coughing and choking up water for a bit
and all the parents and kids had surrounded me. When I finally was able to speak
I asked where the orchestra was. My mom at this time freaked out because she
said drowning people here music.
This
experience has been with me through out my life. I married an alcoholic and had
a son and we divorced. I had two other children and failed marriages. However,
no matter what I have experienced in life I always knew that God saved me at the
bottom of the swimming pool for a reason. No matter how many mistakes I had made
it did not matter. He still loved me and had a plan for my life.
I
finally returned to college in my 30's and began my nursing career. I believe
God called me into my profession. He keeps showing me how much people need to be
loved.

Hearing was very vivid. I no longer heard the other children playing in the
pool. I had heightened awareness of peace and the music was wonderful.

Content that was entirely consistent with the beliefs you had at the time of
your experience I am not sure that I had developed a belief system about God
at this time. However, I went on to have a strong desire to go to church. I
wanted to be in His house. I wanted to give Him my life.
