Experience description:

I had a friend (we were new friends). After a few weeks, I did not hear from him, and the person he was living with (surrogate mother-type) had not seen him in a day or two.   He had a girlfriend, who thought I was trying to "steal" him. That was not true. We were just friends. He seemed to disappear, and I found out that he had tried to commit suicide previously (2 or 3 times, I was told. To this day I don't know if it was true or not.)

His "best friend" (a male) did not hear from him or know where he was, either. I was worried. I had read the book "Life After Life" and other books about such things, and about OBE's.  I decided I had nothing to fear, I would just relax at bedtime, pray to find out what happened to my friend, and hope I could do it.   I did.

I "dreamed" I left my house and was floating above the highway, going toward the beaches, ended up at Drum Street.  I knew no one at the beach, and had never been to Drum St.  I floated into a house after seeing a white Ford Escort with blue pin striping outside.

Upon going inside, I saw my friend sitting in an easy chair. He was smiling a "fake" smile, it seemed, and his girlfriend and someone else I didn't know (older man) was there. I got right in his face and looked at him and he seemed to smile. He was okay... we didn't talk.  I saw he was wearing new white tennis shoes, a red polo shirt, and new blue jeans.  After seeing he was okay, I left.

The next day I went to the house where he had been living with his roommate (the surrogate mother type older woman).  She said she had bought him the clothes I mentioned just a day or two before he left.  I had not seen him for over 5 days, and did not know anything about those clothes.   She said, "You're weird, that's scary. I don't know if I want to talk to you anymore."

Just then, the white Ford Escort pulled up outside and it was my friend and his girlfriend.  He had gone to live with her (get back together with her after a breakup).  The other man was more or less a "caretaker" of hers... I would call it a sugar daddy... but there was no illicit things going on.

After that time, I used my "method" three more times, at will, to "find out" information I needed to know:   Once, to check on my own boyfriend 1,000 miles away..., once to check on my dog when I was on vacation... and once to check on my mother-in-law. (the latter two incidents occurred many years later after I was married).

Any associated medications or substances with the potential to affect the experience?     No

Was the kind of experience difficult to express in words? No

At the time of this experience, was there an associated life threatening event?          No

What was your level of consciousness and alertness during the experience?           I had gone to bed with the intentions of finding out certain information...  I was very alert during the experience. I never saw my own body.

Was the experience dream like in any way?   Yes... like I was dreaming the whole thing.... but yet awake.... I was "traveling" over the highway to get where I was going.... then would go through doorways and walls.... felt like I was floating.

Did you experience a separation of your consciousness from your body?     Yes

I just knew I was floating.... did not see myself.... did not care to. Knew my body could not have been with me because I was home asleep.

What emotions did you feel during the experience?            The need to find out information.... urgency.  Curiosity. Satisfaction or relief to find out what I wanted to know.

Did you hear any unusual sounds or noises?           Don't remember any.  When I was at my destinations, I heard the usual sounds of the goings on around me.... people talking, etc.

LOCATION DESCRIPTION:  Did you recognize any familiar locations or any locations from familiar religious teachings or encounter any locations inhabited by incredible or amazing creatures?    Yes

I took highway A1A to get to Drum St.,   later on, I took the major highways to get to my dog back at home while I was on vacation.... I took the roads usually traveled by car.

Did you see a light?           No

I did not encounter any "beings" of any kind... but did feel like I was not the only one out there.

Did you meet or see any other beings?           No

Did you experiment while out of the body or in another, altered state? Yes

As described above. Yes, I witnessed what my friend was wearing... clothes bought for him I had never seen... the day before he left.

In the later incidents.... I visited the home where my boyfriend moved to out of state... I had never been there.... and saw someone else's home... which I actually visited a couple years later in person with my boyfriend.

Did you observe or hear anything regarding people or events during your experience that could be verified later?          Yes

Everything about my friend at the Drum Street house, including his girlfriend's car (ford Escort), her friend (older man) and the address on Drum street, as well as the clothes my friend was wearing when I saw him.... were all verified by the lady who my friend lived with before he left.... verified to me in person by her.

Did you notice how your 5 senses were working, and if so, how were they different?          Yes

Did not have sense of smell (or didn't notice)... visual was more acute, hearing. Did not touch anything.  Mentally sensed people's feelings (even my dog's when I visisted her years later while on vacation).

Did you have any sense of altered space or time?   Uncertain

I knew I had to be out of my body... because I did this purposely after I went to sleep for the  night.   Also... my vision was "normal" without my usual glasses (which I could not have taken with me in my "travels").

Did you have a sense of knowing, special knowledge, universal order and/or purpose?    No response

Did you reach a boundary or limiting physical structure?             No

Did you become aware of future events?       No

but the females in my family have somewhat of sixth sense regarding "omen" type things when bad things, or deaths are going to occur in the family.  And relatives come to say "goodbye".

Were you involved in or aware of a decision regarding your return to the body?       Yes

Yes, I found out what I wanted to know in each case, and left to return to my bed.... which was "hundreds of miles" away each time.

Did you have any psychic, paranormal or other special gifts following the experience that you did not have prior to the experience?         No

But I was able to do it again at will 2 or 3 more times for different reasons.  I have not been able to do it over the last 5 years or so... but never really concentrated on it.

Did you have any changes of attitudes or beliefs following the experience?   Yes

I decided I would always trust my first instincts about things... whether I trust what someone tells me, etc., and that I can find out anything I want to if I REALLY want to.

How has the experience affected your relationships? Daily life? Religious practices? Career choices?       It hasn't.

Has your life changed specifically as a result of your experience?         No

Have you shared this experience with others?         Yes

My friend's roommate thought I was weird and freaked out.   It didn't surprise my mom because we females in the family are "gifted" in such ways to certain extents... others are amazed or think it's neat... some share my enthusiasm.

What emotions did you experience following your experience?  Relief that I had found out what I needed to know. I knew I was actually doing what I set out to do concerning my dog... because I spoke to my mom the next day and she confirmed it.

What was the best and worst part of your experience?      Worst part was paranoia from reading some people OBE and that they dealt with "other spirits" or "demons".  I did not want to encounter any of that.

Best part was I KNOW I really did go to these places because I was over 900 miles away each time.... and could not have found out the information I needed otherwise.

Is there anything else you would like to add concerning the experience?        No.

Following the experience, have you had any other events in your life, medications or substances which reproduced any part of the experience?         No

Each experience was different.... involved different people and places, and different information I needed each time.

Did the questions asked and information you provided accurately and comprehensively describe your experience?               Yes

I believe so.

Please offer any suggestions you may have to improve this questionnaire.    No, not that I can think of at the moment.
