Experience description:

Last experience was in Ephrata, Washington USA. Although I am NOT a NDE, I've had similar experiences with what I refer to as the "radiant light." The first experience came at age 28 when I was living in Tigard, Oregon and my husband announced he was leaving. I was in shock and completely unprepared for this event. After crying and carrying on for several hours, I fell asleep exhausted and went into a deeper than usual dream state. I found myself sitting in a gondola floating in calm dark waters. It looked something like the marble canals in front of the Taj Mahal. As the gondolier steered the rudder, the gondola headed toward the end of the canal where a beautiful white mansion emerged in the distance. Suddenly, I felt like a child returning home after a long journey. I knew, without reservation, that this is where I belonged. I entered the mansion and ascended a white marble staircase. Midway to the top, I came to a landing framed by a large bay window. As I approached the window to peer outside, I was suddenly drenched in radiant sunlight. I felt transparent as the light permeated every cell of my body. Overwhelmed by this radiant energy, I experienced the greatest Presence of Love I have ever known. The ecstasy was beyond any earthly experience. When I awoke, all the anger and depression from the day before disappeared and remnants of this incredible energy stayed with me for days afterward.

The second "mystical" experience was just last month. I am now age 65 and thought perhaps it was my time to transition to the next life. I was awaken at exactly 2:30 AM Pacific Standard Time by a bright light that radiated throughout my bedroom. I live alone and thought perhaps my daughter had driven to see me from Idaho and flipped on the overhead lights as she entered the room. However, when I looked around, no one was present in the room. When I looked up I saw an Angel - literally! She had no arms but wings that attached to the side of her body. She was translucent and radiant in white light. I asked her why she was here and there was no verbal response. She had a look on her face of concern and then suddenly vanished and the room went dark again. I never felt afraid.

I meet Betty Preston in Seattle, Washington some years ago who I understand was one of the founders of the NDE Association here in the United States. I've also written a book, A Divine Transition, which documents my experience with a developmentally disabled woman who passed-away while in my care. I fulfilled the requests made by her mother (already deceased) in a sequestered last will and testament that I HAD NEVER SEEN. The events that occurred went well beyond coincidence and this is a court-documented case. The book is available on amazon.com.

Was the kind of experience difficult to express in words? Yes     There is no human experience that is equivalent to the Presence of Love I experienced. It is something beyond the "human" condition. It is completely "other-worldly."

At the time of this experience, was there an associated life threatening event?          No       Not life threatening. It was more of an emotional trauma.

At what time during the experience were you at your highest level of consciousness and alertness?    During the entire time of both of the above related experiences I felt I was at the highest possible level of consciousness.

How did your highest level of consciousness and alertness during the experience compare to your normal every day consciousness and alertness?    More consciousness and alertness than normal

If your highest level of consciousness and alertness during the experience was different from your normal every day consciousness and alertness, please explain:            During the entire time of both of the above related experiences I felt I was at the highest possible level of consciousness.

Did your vision differ in any way from your normal, everyday vision (in any aspect, such as clarity, field of vision, colors, brightness, depth perception degree of solidness/transparency of objects, etc.)?  Yes     The experiences I had  were extremely "positive" and intense. Especially the first one in Tigard, Oregon when I was 28. I was completely lifted out of a state of depression and felt extremely joyful for many days.

Did your hearing differ in any way from your normal, everyday hearing (in any aspect, such as clarity, ability to recognize source of sound, pitch, loudness, etc.)?
Uncertain      I didn't feel that sound played a significant role. There was no need to speak. It was more about feeling.

Did you experience a separation of your consciousness from your body?     Yes

What emotions did you feel during the experience?            Ecstasy is the closest word that describes the feeling. There are no words to describe what I experienced in human terms.

Did you pass into or through a tunnel or enclosure?          No

Did you see a light?           Yes     The light descended in the form of radiant energy - like rain or sunshine that warms the body except the experience was far more intense.

Did you meet or see any other beings?           Yes     In my most recent experience I literally saw an Angel - much to my amazement because I thought "literal" angels were a figment of human imagination. What I saw had wings and  an extremely radiant presence.

Did you experience a review of past events in your life?    No

Did you observe or hear anything regarding people or events during your experience that could be verified later?          No

Did you see or visit any beautiful or otherwise distinctive locations, levels or dimensions?            Yes     The experience I had in Tigard, Oregon definitely took me to an entirely different level or dimension.

Did you have any sense of altered space or time?   Yes     Space and time didn't seem to be part of the dimension I experienced

Did you have a sense of knowing special knowledge, universal order and/or purpose?     Yes            There was an incredible sense of peace, calm and love. Again, there are no human words that come close to what I experienced. I only know I was HOME. That was the strongest sensation - that this was HOME.

Did you reach a boundary or limiting physical structure? No

Did you become aware of future events?       No

Did you have any psychic, paranormal or other special gifts following the experience you did not have prior to the experience?     Yes     I have often felt like an instrument for those who have passed-on who still want to connect with their loved ones in this earthly plane. The book I wrote documents one of these stories. I intend to change the title to "Memoirs of a Mystical Christmas Eve" in the near future. I've had similar experiences with other individuals as well.

Have you shared this experience with others?         Yes     I wrote a story about my first major experience 10 years after it occurred.

Did you have any knowledge of near death experience (NDE) prior to your experience?    Yes            Betty Preston literally walked up to me in a church and said "we have an appointment." I never met her before that introduction.

How did you view the reality of your experience shortly (days to weeks) after it happened:            Experience was definitely real    What I experienced had a profound affect on my life. I have never felt alone since that time. I know from the deepest level that I am loved and cared for.

Were there one or several parts of the experience especially meaningful or significant to you?            There is nothing more meaningful that the experience of the Radian Light or Energy. It is completely otherworldly.

How do you currently view the reality of your experience:            Experience was definitely real    I believe what I experienced is more real than this life experience which is transient at best.

Have your relationships changed specifically as a result of your experience?           Yes     I live alone without feeling lonely. I love animals and am surrounded by several abandoned dogs and cats. I don't mind being around people but I don't crave companionship anymore. I feel very connected to the world around me.

Have your religious beliefs/practices changed specifically as a result of your experience?
Yes     Am definitely into New Age and things that are not Dogma related.

Following the experience, have you had any other events in your life, medications or substances which reproduced any part of the experience?         No

Is there anything else you would like to add concerning the experience?        Words are very inadequate to describe what I experienced - you just have to go there!

Did the questions asked and information you provided so far accurately and comprehensively describe your experience?         Yes     I think I did the best I could using words to describe an unworldly experience.
