Experience description:   

My 25 year old older brother had died just a few days earlier and it was a very traumatic situation as his first son was just about to be born.  He was buried at 1:00PM and at 4:00PM the same day my nephew was born.  My mother and I were not doing well.  the days to follow were very difficult.  One night I went to bed and once asleep I felt that I woke up in total darkness.  I did not know where my head or feet were, nor the direction of my body.  I had completly lost my spatial sense.  I was very scared since my mind was very lucid and I was fully self aware yet I had no body and there was nothing but darkness and silence.  At that moment I thought "I am dead", and I was terrified to think that I would have to stay in that state of darkness and solitude.  I then asked "God, why is this happening to me?"  and at that moment I saw a tiny point of white light.  Everything started to make sense, I now had a sense of direction.  The point of light increased in size at great speed.  I am not sure whether I was approaching it, or it was approaching me.  Everything happened very quickly, the light enveloped me and took the shape of a spectacular face made of light.  What most impressed me were the eyes, they were of a penetrating black color surrounded by light.  I felt an incredible sense of love.  I started to vibrate from pleasure.  I think that is the hardest thing to explain.  It was beautiful.  Suddenly the light disappeared and I jumped up in bed screaming.  My mother and my other brother entered my room worried about the screaming that they had heard and I told them what had happened to me.

Hacía pocos días que había fallecido mi hermano mayor que sólo contaba con 25 años, y la situación fue muy traumática porque estaba a punto de nacer su único hijo. Lo enterraron a las 13hs y a las 16hs del mismo día nació mi sobrino. Mi madre estaba muy mal y yo también. Fueron unos días muy traumáticos. Una noche me fiu a acostar y una vez dormido sentí que me despertaba en una plena oscuridad. No sabía dónde tenía la cabeza, los pies, ni la dirección de mi cuerpo. Había perdido tatalmente el sentido de la ubicación. Me asusté mucho ya que mi mente estaba muy lúcida y podía tomar conciecia de todo, pero no tenía cuerpo y sólo veía oscuridad y silencio. Me dio mucho miendo y me asusté mucho. En ese momento pensé "Estoy muerto" y me aterraba pensar que iba a estar todo el tiempo en esa oscuridad y soledad. De repente dije: "Dios por qué me sucede esto" y en ese momento vi un punto minúsculo de luz blanca. Todo tomó sentido, porque podía tener una dirección. En ese momento el punto se agrandaba vertiginosamente. No sé si yo iba hacia él o él venía hacia mí. Todo sucedió muy rápido, y la luz me envolvió y formó un rostro espectacular formado de luz. Lo que más me impactó era que los orificios que formaban los ojos eran de un negro penetrante en todo esa imagén de luz. Sentí una sensación de amor increible; comencé a vibrar de placer. Tal vez esta es la parte más difícil de explicar. Fue hermoso. Repentinamente la luz se esfumó y yo me incorporé en la cama gritando que quería quedarme ahí. En ese momento entraban a mi cuarto mi madre y mi otro hermano preocupados por los gritos que había dado y les conté lo que me había sucedido.

Was the kind of experience difficult to express in words? Yes     Los sentimientos que experimenté y la sensación que me produjo el rostro que vi. Yes, the emotions that I felt and the feelings that the face produced in me.

At what time during the experience were you at your highest level of consciousness and alertness?    Cuando me encontré en esa oscuridad tan profunda y en ese silencio tan horrible.  When I found myself in total darkness and that horrible silence.

How did your highest level of consciousness and alertness during the experience compare to your normal every day consciousness and alertness?    More consciousness and alertness than normal

If your highest level of consciousness and alertness during the experience was different from your normal every day consciousness and alertness, please explain:            Cuando me encontré en esa oscuridad tan profunda y en ese silencio tan horrible.  When I found myself in total darkness and that horrible silence.

Did your vision differ in any way from your normal, everyday vision (in any aspect, such as clarity, field of vision, colors, brightness, depth perception degree of solidness/transparency of objects, etc.)?  Yes     Sí, la oscuridad la percibía con otra intensidad y la luz también. Una oscuridad muy penetrante que no es la misma que la que se puede sentir con la ausencia de la luz que conocemos. Y la luz de ese lugar era totalmente diferente a la que estamos habituados a ver.  Yes, I perceived the darkness and the light with a different intensity.  A penetrating darkness and not the same as what is perceived with the lack of light as we know it.  The light in that place was totally different to the light that we are accustomed to seeing.

Did your hearing differ in any way from your normal, everyday hearing (in any aspect, such as clarity, ability to recognize source of sound, pitch, loudness, etc.)?
            No       Yo no escuché nada en la experiencia. No, I did not hear anything during the experience.

Did you experience a separation of your consciousness from your body?     Yes

What emotions did you feel during the experience?            Primero mucha angustia y al llegar la luz en forma de ese rostro, una sensación imposible de expresar con palabras. Ese rostro me transmitía una mezcla de profundo amor, compasión, ternura, protección, y dejarme ir para fusionarme en él. Pero cuando estaba sintiendo que me fusionaba a él fue cuando volví a mi estado de conciencia normal.  At first I felt anguish, and then when I arrived at the light in the form of a face, a feeling that is impossible to express in words.  That face transmitted a mixture of deep love, compassion, kindmess, protection, and allowed me to merge with it.  But the point when I started to feel that I was merging with it was when I returned to my normal state of conciousness.

Did you pass into or through a tunnel or enclosure?          Uncertain      El tunel lo percibí cuando vi el punto de luz, pero nunca supe si yo iva hacia la luz o la luz venía hacia mí. Si arriesgo una respuesta, diría que la luz venía hacia mí, por la forma que me sentí envuelto y el rostro que se formó frente a mí.   Uncertain, I sensed the tunnel when I saw the point of light but I could not tell if I was approaching the light or if the light was approaching me.  If I had to say one way or another I would say that the light was approaching me by the way that I felt enveloped and the face that formed before me.

Did you see a light?           Yes     Una luz blanca, muy brillante pero no encandecente. Me transmitía hermosas sensaciones, protección y paz.   Yes, a white light, very bright but not burning.  It transmitted to me beautiful feelings, protection and peace.

Did you meet or see any other beings?           Uncertain      La luz me envolvió y parte formó un rostro de luz frente a mí, con dos ojos negros muy penetrantes. Pero no era un ser humano. Era la luz que formaba ese rostro.  Uncertain, the light surrounded me and part of it took the form of a face with two black penetrating eyes.

Did you experience a review of past events in your life?    Uncertain      Después de tantos años, estoy convencido que la experiencia fue mucho más intensa de lo que yo recuerdo. Tengo la sensación que me sucediron más cosas pero no las recuerdo.  Uncertain, after so many years I am convinced that the experience was much more intense that I remember.  I have the feeling that I experienced more things but I do not remember them.

Did you observe or hear anything regarding people or events during your experience that could be verified later?          No      

Did you see or visit any beautiful or otherwise distinctive locations, levels or dimensions?           No           

Did you have any sense of altered space or time?   Yes     Era un tiempo y un espacio distinto, como si no hubiera gravedad.  Yes, it was a different time and space, as if there were no gravity.

Did you have a sense of knowing special knowledge, universal order and/or purpose?     No       No en ese momento pero después tuve unas visiones de futuro que se concretaron. No, not at that moment but I later had some visions of the future that came true.

Did you reach a boundary or limiting physical structure? Uncertain      Tengo la sensación que por un momento abandoné este mundo Uncertain, I have the feeling that for a moment I left this world

Did you become aware of future events?       Yes

Did you have any psychic, paranormal or other special gifts following the experience you did not have prior to the experience?     Yes     Tuve un par de visiones personales I had a pair of personal visions of the future.

Have you shared this experience with others?         Yes     Al poco tiempo lo comenté pero hace 37 años la gente no entendía estas cosas y sufrí mucho porque me miraban como a un loco.  Yes, soon after I spoke about it, but 37 years ago people did not understand these things.  I suffered a lot because they looked like me as if I were crazy.

Did you have any knowledge of near death experience (NDE) prior to your experience?    No      

How did you view the reality of your experience shortly (days to weeks) after it happened:            Experience was definitely real    La experiencia no da lugar a dudas de que ha sido algo real
