EXPERIENCE DESCRIPTION:

I had recently married my husband, who lived in Las Vegas, and left my family and friends in Chicago behind. It was not an easy adjustment. I knew no one or anything about the city, though I was able to find work. I had no emotional support, and there were early marriage issues. It was a time where I felt that no one loved me.

Returning from work to our empty Las Vegas apartment, I became deeply depressed.

I collapsed on the bed in a state of utter depression.

Suddenly, I found myself floating outside of my body and over the room. As I gradually continued to rise upward, I found myself instantly in a dark place. This darkness was unsettling. As if absent of all goodness. Pure emptiness and lack of hope overwhelming. Any and all positive emotions were missing in this environment.

How long I was in this darkness, I do not know. Time had lost it’s meaning. I couldn’t tell if I was moving or staying, though I could tell I was no longer in a body.

I then noticed a pin needle of light within this darkness.

As I noticed it, I tried to reach for it, and as I tried to reach for it, I began to get closer and closer still to this growing light. As I grew closer, I felt better.

In a flash, I was in the light. Within the light, I found myself floating down towards a pasture that had a horse pen. I always loved horses, and a man was sitting on the white picket fence, looking at the white horse.

As I floated closer towards the pen in approach of the man, I discovered it was my beloved Uncle Herman, who had died a few years earlier. At this point that I noticed that I had a body, dressed in my favorite outfit of a white sweater and white pants.

My uncle turned and smiled at me, and said 'Hi there!'

And I said 'Hi Uncle Herman!' He recognized me.

'What a beautiful horse' I said.

'He’s yours if you want him,' he replied.

'Really?!' I exclaimed.

Then a giant of a man appeared, dressed in a robe. With him, a normal sized man was behind him, flipping through the pages of a very large book very quickly.

The giant greeted me and said 'Hello, we’re happy you’re here! Is there anything you’d like to do, or see, or anyone you’d like to meet?'

I thought for a moment. ' I would like to meet my Grandmother.' She had died before I was ever conceived, but was a legend among my father’s side of the family. All I ever had of her was a photo and stories. I greatly respected her.

'Oh, she’s right over there' replied the giant, pointing towards a large city in the distance.

I immediately began running towards that city. As I began to run, within an sudden instant, I found myself at the steps of a outdoor subway station, walking up the steps.

When I reached the top of the steps, there was a long line of people, waiting their turn to board the train. The train led to a large, very bright light. The more one took mere steps towards this light, the more amazing one felt. Words cannot express.

Then, from among the crowd, I found her.

I said 'Hello!'

Her reply was, 'Hi.'

She looked at me, and I her.

'And who are you?' she asked.

'I’m your granddaughter. Your son’s Edmon’s daughter.'

And she said, 'And why are you here?'

Then the giant reappeared, with the reader along with him. This time, the reader had the large book closed.

'You have to go back,' he said.

As I was being propelled backwards I cried, 'I don’t want to go back!'

'There is someone there who loves you very much. It’s not your time.'

I pleaded loudly over and over again 'I don’t want to go back, please!' The thought of being on Earth felt like returning to dirt.

As I found myself back in my body, I found myself still crying, but this time it was different. I knew that there was more to life. I felt blessed and privileged to have experienced a little bit of heaven and know that there is a God, and life does not end with death.
