Experience description:   

I don't remember leaving my body but I found myself sitting at a desk in a classroom. I could see myself below from somewhere above in the room. There were three ancient men dressed in robes surrounding me.  I knew them to be sages or spirit guides.  They were of three different heights.  They were teaching me by imparting knowledge directly to my brain in a telepathic way.  I felt that they were teaching me everything all at once. When I would later reenter my body I would have no clear recollection of what they had taught me but I was aware that this knowledge would always be a part of me and that I would be called to use this at various times in my life. When I asked these beings who they were, they replied "Wisdom, Knowledge and Understanding".  I had the understanding that the level of their varied heights described the level of each ability to which I had been given. I knew that I had always known these beings from the beginning of time even though I did not remember ever seeing them before this experience. When I once again became aware of earthly time I expressed a wish to return to my body because I knew that I still had children at home to care for.  They agreed and sent me back to my body. I actually became a huge ball of fire, similar to a meteor, as I traveled at what seemed like the speed of light from a very far off distance until I physically reentered my body with a huge thud. When I came back to physical consciousness I was sitting upright in my bed. While the experience was happening it seemed perfectly natural and I felt calm, but later when I recalled what happened I was astonished.  The experience was very vivid and real. Even after 15 years I can still clearly recall the experience.

Was the kind of experience difficult to express in words? No      

At the time of this experience, was there an associated life threatening event?          Yes     My child was battling brain cancer.

At what time during the experience were you at your highest level of consciousness and alertness?    When I was "the fireball" traveling through space.  I could feel the speed and vividly see the colors of orange and the blackness of night.

How did your highest level of consciousness and alertness during the experience compare to your normal every day consciousness and alertness?    More consciousness and alertness than normal

If your highest level of consciousness and alertness during the experience was different from your normal every day consciousness and alertness, please explain:            When I was "the fireball" traveling through space.  I could feel the speed and vividly see the colors of orange and the blackness of night.

Did your vision differ in any way from your normal, everyday vision (in any aspect, such as clarity, field of vision, colors, brightness, depth perception degree of solidness/transparency of objects, etc.)?  Yes     color vividness, 360 degree field of vision, brightness

Did your hearing differ in any way from your normal, everyday hearing (in any aspect, such as clarity, ability to recognize source of sound, pitch, loudness, etc.)?
            Uncertain      Communication between beings and myself was telepathic or "mind to mind".

Did you experience a separation of your consciousness from your body?     Yes

What emotions did you feel during the experience?            calm, inquisitiveness, concern, exhilaration, surprise

Did you pass into or through a tunnel or enclosure?          No      

Did you see a light?           No      

Did you meet or see any other beings?           Yes     Yes. The were ancient sages who called themselves Wisdom, Knowledge and Understanding. Yes, I perceived that I had always known them or rather they have always known me. They communicated Universal knowledge to me although after the experience I could not remember what they taught me but they let me know that this knowledge would always be a part of me.

Did you experience a review of past events in your life?    No      

Did you observe or hear anything regarding people or events during your experience that could be verified later?          No      

Did you see or visit any beautiful or otherwise distinctive locations, levels or dimensions?            Yes     I was in a classroom but it was not an earthly classroom. I knew I was somewhere else perhaps in another dimension.

Did you have any sense of altered space or time?   Yes     There was no sense of time until I became aware that I was not on earth and that I had to get back to earthly time to take care of my responsibilities here.

Did you have a sense of knowing special knowledge, universal order and/or purpose?     Yes     I had been given special universal knowledge by the three beings.

Did you reach a boundary or limiting physical structure? No      

Did you become aware of future events?       No           

Did you have any psychic, paranormal or other special gifts following the experience you did not have prior to the experience?     Yes     premonitions, ability to communicate with people who have passed, healing.

Have you shared this experience with others?         Yes     Very soon after.  I have had other experiences before this that I have shared with others.

Did you have any knowledge of near death experience (NDE) prior to your experience?    Yes     My son, who has since passed, had a NDE while receiving a spinal tap in the hospital

How did you view the reality of your experience shortly (days to weeks) after it happened:            Experience was definitely real    I felt that it was a real experience because I had such vivid recollection of the experience and I felt changed by it.

Were there one or several parts of the experience especially meaningful or significant to you?            Yes, I am humbled and grateful that I have been given a special wisdom, knowledge and understanding

How do you currently view the reality of your experience:            Experience was definitely real    I view this as an extraordinary learning experience that has changed me and allowed me to grow as a person.  I now know that all of the events that have happened,even the loss of my child, have occurred to allow the next things to unfold in my life as they are meant to.  I have learned to trust in my instincts and intuition and to walk by faith and not by sight.

Have your relationships changed specifically as a result of your experience?           Yes     I am more tolerant, patient and understanding of others because I realize that everyone is on their own personal journey.  I also used to be a "fixer" or "rescuer" but now am able to be more objective and allow people to help themselves with my support rather than trying to take over their problems.

Have your religious beliefs/practices changed specifically as a result of your experience?            Yes     Yes, I am open and interested in all religions beyond the one that I was born into. I accept the belief that all religions have a part of the Universal Truth as long as they are working and practicing  in a positive light.

Following the experience, have you had any other events in your life, medications or substances which reproduced any part of the experience?         No       No, not this specific experience.

Is there anything else you would like to add concerning the experience?        I would like to add that I believe a NDE or out of body experience can happen due to  trauma or in a post traumatic stress situation as well as occurring in the event of illness or accidental deaths.
