Experience description:

I was driving my 1999 GMC Extended cab truck to Phoenix Airport from Flagstaff.  The day was clear, no traffic on road, and a major highway (I-17) south.  About a mile south of Black Canyon, the back end of my truck appeared to not have contact with the road and I headed to the side.  The truck traveled about 60 yards on its side and then rolled over three times and finally coming to a stop on its side.  Rate of speed probably 75 mph.

I remember at the start when I realized I was going off the road that this wasn't good and it was probably the end.  I appeared to go into a tunnel something like the amusement ride where the cover comes up and covers you.  After the third roll over I clearly remember thinking  Whoa it's finally finished and I am still here.

During that time I appeared to come out of my body and moved back from myself.  I could see myself clearly, sitting at the wheel with both hands at the 10 o'clock 2 o'clock position.  I was inside what I would call a bubble.  I could clearly see the bubble surrounding me.  While observing myself from the back, there was no seat, just me sitting within the bubble.  I then slowly moved forward and went back to my body and I became more aware that I was alive.  I started thinking of   crash=fire and sought an exit.  Since there were no other cars on the highway  it seemed strange that it felt almost immediately there were 4 or 5 people giving me directions to get out of the truck.  I got out and appeared OK.  Then there was a line of traffic don't know where they all came from ... police were there and 3 Guardian helicopters overhead.  Initially, I had a small (1/4 inch) bleeding scratch on my left hand.  Other than that, I felt fine.  The police asked what happened and I saw two rocks about 4 inches in height back on the highway.  I though maybe I had either hit them or corrected to miss them.  When I explained this to the policeman, the rocks were gone.  He didn't think it was the rocks, wasn't asleep, clear day etc no one else involved so he did not give me a ticket.

I would bet money that throughout the accident that my body did not move in any direction,  just upright in the bubble.  This is difficult to perceive because being the side and then rolling over it would seem that I had to be thrown around.  About 3 hours later, neck started hurting ... a while later other marks appeared on my body ... appeared to be cigarette burns on my knee;  later, my ankles began to swell.  Didn't have a headache but did have a lump on my right side of head.  Was dizzy and at times disorientated days after the accident.

There were no light, no voices, thoughts of my past.  Just a comforting feeling that I was protected and couldn't be touched.  Don't know why it happened or what I am suppose to do in the future.  Something other than me was there.  I did have a seatbelt on.

What was your level of consciousness and alertness during the experience?           I believe that I was fully conscious during the entire incident.  Other signs lead me to believe now that I might not have been

Was the experience dream like in any way?   I guess you could say somewhat.  I had no fear and believe that I was an observer at the time.

Did you experience a separation of your consciousness from your body?     Yes     As I appeared to back out of my body it appeared to be me.  I felt safe and had no negative thoughts

What emotions did you feel during the experience?            I had no emotions during the accident  except initially when I started I thought this isn't good but I had little power to stop what had already started.

Did you hear any unusual sounds or noises?           I heard no noises or sounds yet glass was shattered and metal crushed

LOCATION DESCRIPTION:  Did you recognize any familiar locations or any locations from familiar religious teachings or encounter any locations inhabited by incredible or amazing creatures?            Uncertain      After the fact, friends said the tunnel and bubble had religious meanings.  No one spoke to me, I didn't see figures, relive my life   just sat there and went thru the ride.    When I felt myself come out of my body and move back about 5 feet I didn't feel alone at that point it seemed there was something else there allowing me to watch this.  Hard to explain

Did you see a light?           Uncertain      I didn't see any light but just now thinking more about it ... looking forward out of the bubble it was clear   there was nothing there ... no grass, rocks, glass flying, just clear white   you would think I would see stuff flying around

Did you have any psychic, paranormal or other special gifts following the experience that you did not have prior to the experience?         No

Did you have any changes of attitudes or beliefs following the experience?   Uncertain      I don't think this happened and resulted the way it did for no reason.  Two other vehicles within the last two weeks prior to my accident occurred near this spot.  One with two people in it flipped over and both died.  Another flipped and two died. I didn't know this until after the crash.  I did the same thing at the same place and didn't die.  I don't know why but believe now that there is an answer

Have you shared this experience with others?         Yes     Most of my friends;  also a Healer friend

What emotions did you experience following your experience?  Immediately after climbing out ... Wow, here I am and not laying in there.  later trying to figure out why and what really happened.  Logic says I had to be jostled around even with the seatbelt.  The bag did not deploy.

What was the best and worst part of your experience?      Best part is realizing how many friends I really have;  worst in not knowing was it a fluke, was I just lucky or is there more to it

Is there anything else you would like to add concerning the experience?        no, as time goes on I seem to feel the experience more and get disturbed that I can find an explanation.  I don't know what to do with it.

Following the experience, have you had any other events in your life, medications or substances which reproduced any part of the experience?         No

Did the questions asked and information you provided accurately and comprehensively describe your experience?               Yes

Please offer any suggestions you may have to improve this questionnaire.    no, seems like a logical flow  thanks
