Experience description:

The day before this experience occurred, I was laying in the grass on our front lawn. Like many children I was making "animals" in the clouds. Suddenly a thought felt like it was skipping across my mind and I heard a clairaudient voice from my mind say " I wonder why there is such a thing as existence, why are there people and things."

The next day, I had been playing with my niece and 2 nephews. They were digging a small hole in the ground to play a game of marbles. I started to get in my swing which was hanging from a huge limb of an oak tree. As I approached the swing I turned my back to it to sit on the board. Instantly, I let go of the ropes because (spontaneously) my Spiritual Body moved upward and I could feel my Spiritual Feet stabilized around the neck area - they just stopped. I was up high, as I looked down and around I saw the landscape, grass, sandy areas, fences, house, trees, cows and stonewall. This was where I lived. I could see my niece and nephews playing the game of marbles. It was all so beautiful and I felt very, very light and wonderful. I suddenly realized that I could control the marble game so my niece could win.

Then very slowly my Spirit Body started to go back down in my physical body. I did not speak out loud, but in my mind I thought " oh this feels wonderful (and I was giggling) - I want to do that again" and my Spiritual Body started to go back upward and I could see everything again. I had a sense that I could do anything that I wished to do. So I went up and down in the physical body 4 times - then I was totally back in my body. Several days later I was alone in the yard, again, near the swing. The experience spontaneously occurred again. It was such a wonderful feeling. I was up high, felt like I was floating in the air. Then I turned my attention to the right and looked at the porch and my body was sitting on the porch steps, but I was still standing near the swing. I thought "body" and instantly I was back in my body on the porch.

Any associated medications or substances with the potential to affect the experience?     No

Was the kind of experience difficult to express in words? No       But I did not talk about it with anyone until years later for fear of being labeled.

At the time of this experience, was there an associated life threatening event?          No

What was your level of consciousness and alertness during the experience?           I was fully awake and alert - playing in front of my house.

            Was the experience dream like in any way?   No it was not dream like. I felt like the real me was floating in the air. I had the realization that I had another type of body - that I was not just physical.

Did you experience a separation of your consciousness from your body?     Yes     I was a light and airy body with my consciousness in tact.

What emotions did you feel during the experience?            I felt wonderful, light, peaceful, just very giddy, like a child would feel when getting excited about something.

Did you hear any unusual sounds or noises?           NO.

LOCATION DESCRIPTION: Did you recognize any familiar locations or any locations from familiar religious teachings or encounter any locations inhabited by incredible or amazing creatures?    No            I was firmly in the physical world, and felt like there was another world about 12 feet above our ground.

Did you see a light?           No

Did you meet or see any other beings?           No

Did you experiment while out of the body or in another, altered state? Yes

Yes, I moved the marbles.

Did you observe or hear anything regarding people or events during your experience that could be verified later?          No

Did you notice how your 5 senses were working, and if so, how were they different?          Yes            MIND: I could "THINK" things/situations into being.

EYES: I could see great distances all at once.

Did you have any sense of altered space or time?   Yes     I was in a different dimension while floating but realizing that the earth/physical was there below me.

Did you have a sense of knowing, special knowledge, universal order and/or purpose?    Yes     A sense of knowing that I was powerful and there was something greater than my physical being.

Did you reach a boundary or limiting physical structure?             No       There seemed to be no boundaries.

Did you become aware of future events?       No

Were you involved in or aware of a decision regarding your return to the body?       No       I just thought the word "body" and I was back in my body on the porch. The first time I did not think anything - I just went back in my body spontaneously.

Did you have any psychic, paranormal or other special gifts following the experience that you did not have prior to the experience?         Yes     I knew when my mother was calling me before the phone would ring, then it would ring and she was on the line. I would think of someone and they would either appear or get in touch within a day. I began later to have this uncanny ability to "read" people.

Did you have any changes of attitudes or beliefs following the experience?   Yes     I would go to churches with my mother and remember thinking the preachers screaming words at a congregation were basically crazy or insane. I felt they did not know who they/we were.

How has the experience affected your relationships? Daily life? Religious practices? Career choices?       My relationships are basically with like minded people. The relationships are better relationships, than those few that I have who are not privileged to understand things like OBEs, Dowsing and an array of other subjects regarding the non physical existence. My Spiritual practices are not with any specific religion and is something I practice daily in my life without fear and dogma.

Has your life changed specifically as a result of your experience?         Yes     This experience I have described is only one of dozens of different experiences that have occurred in my life. They all have contributed to an understanding of physical vs. non-physical life.

Have you shared this experience with others?         Yes     Others have listened, believe and understand because they have had OBEs or know someone else who practices having OBEs.

What emotions did you experience following your experience? I didn't have any particular emotions - I was a child and felt I wanted to have this happen again. It all just seemed normal to me.

What was the best and worst part of your experience?      The best part was the "feeling good, light and free". I cannot say there was a bad part because the experience was so wonderful and has stayed with me throughout my life.

Is there anything else you would like to add concerning the experience?        This experience led me to understanding that the physical reality is not all there is.

Please offer any suggestions you may have to improve this questionnaire.    Just a note: Not everyone has buzzing, shaking, vibrations, noise etc. when an OBE occurs. It can be a very exhilarating, peaceful experience w/o any negative reactions or frightening near death experiences. etc.
