Experience description:
I'd been in labor all
night and was in so much pain. I'd been left with a student nurse. A senior
nurse came in the morning and checked us, she told the student that we were both
in distress. I remember being rushed suddenly in to the delivery room and the
room filled up with doctors and nurses. I was on the delivery bed and there was
a clock on the wall in front of me. My feet were put in stirrups and the doctor
immediately made a cut and inserted forceps. He gripped my son's head with the
forceps and started to rotate and pull him. The pain was excruciating. I heard
and felt a horrific piercing scream and at that moment I was above the delivery
table ,in the corner of the room on the ceiling and I was now looking down on
the clock from the left hand side of the bed (the clock was to my right). I
could hear this terrific screaming but could feel nothing at all.
Suddenly I was back in
my body and my son was being born and I could see the clock once more in front
of me as the nurse announced the time of birth at 8.04
At the time of your
experience was there an associated life-threatening event? Uncertain
delivering first baby, both of us in clinical distress, rushed to delivery room,
episiotomy and forceps delivery and baby had to be turned as he was posterior
presentation, No time to give me any kind of anesthetic or pain relief.
Was the experience
difficult to express in words?....No....
At what time during
the experience were you at your highest level of
consciousness and
alertness?....More
consciousness and alertness than normal At height of the pain when I left my
body....Everything seemed heightened

I could see just
as well as I always could

I could hear the
screaming which drowned out everything else

Yes I heard the
screaming, I saw the clock ,I was aware of the doctors and nurses below me but I
didn't look down at them I focused on the clock
What emotions did you
feel during the experience?....Relief
that I felt no pain and shock at the screaming

remember feeling suspended and then very quickly returning to my body

changes in my life....Nothing changed immediately but over the years I've come
to realize that there is another realm which we can access if we need to or
learn to....

of the experience?
Yes I realized in
time that their is another dimension

Yes I've shared it
since it happened, just occasionally in conversation about difficult deliveries,
It's usually met with disinterest, possibly disbelief

Heard of OBEs and NDEs but paid no attention to them
What did you believe
about the reality of your experience shortly (days to weeks) after it
happened:....Experience
was definitely real I accepted that this was something which had happened to
me

was definitely real....I remember it very clearly as something which happened to
me and I feel gratitude that I escaped the incredible pain I was experiencing at
the time
