I had used the same massage therapist for over ten years, so was very comfortable with her. I listened to the same music, in a dark, quiet room for a very consistent experience. only one time did I have an out of body experience, and was surprised by it. I left my body, floating directly above, maybe 15 feet up, and could see the massage therapist and my body. as soon as I realized that I was where I was, I became immediately back in my body. I told the massage therapist about my experience and she stated that she had had other clients tell her the same thing. at another time in my life, I was hit by a car while walking. as my body neared the ground my life flashed in front of my eyes, with what seemed like everything that had ever occurred in my life. I could not see the ground until I hit. for some time after this I could remember many of the events. now I can't remember any, but it was such a neat experience.

What was your level of consciousness and alertness during the experience?           I think I was very, very relaxed. over the years I have questioned my experience, thinking...was I asleep? but I think I should trust my memory as it happened.

            Was the experience dream like in any way?   no

Did you experience a separation of your consciousness from your body?     Yes     I could not see myself in the floating state, but could see my body as it lay on the massage table.

What emotions did you feel during the experience?            it happened so quickly that the only emotion I noticed was when I became aware that I was not in my body, I quickly jolted back into it.

Did you hear any unusual sounds or noises?           no

What was the best and worst part of your experience?      best was having the experience, as someone who seriously doubted the possibility that the soul could exist without the body, gave me hope for my eternity & that of my parents, who are both deceased. by the way...at another time, at work, I also experienced the feeling that my deceased father was within inches of my shoulder, was not thinking of him at the time, it just happened... I guess I have experienced several things.  the worst...that it has not happened again and I didn't have control over it to fully experience it.

Is there anything else you would like to add concerning the experience?        I feel that I am on a constant search for understanding. I am not a spiritual freak, but a person who feels connected to something in this universe that I don't understand. I am grateful for this experience and wanted to share to validate that I did, indeed, experience what I think I did.
