Experience description:

I had been sick for a few months with Hodgkin's Disease and was going through treatment, because of my illness I was living with my mother at the time. I was outside one day and on the edge of the woods was a plant, on the underside of the plant was a lunar moth, you know like the one on the Lunesta commercial. I put my hand down to the moth and it crawled onto my hand, I went into my mothers house to show the moth off (couldn't believe it wasn't trying to fly away), I took the moth to my bedroom on the second level balcony of the house and put it on a plant, there it stayed. The next night my mother was screaming from my room, I ran up to see on the lit balcony was 12 to 13 lunar moths flying around. I felt very uplifted by this, and told my mother it was a sign from God. Mind you I was not a religious person but because of the cancer I felt like things were changing, felt closer to God. That night I had just gotten into bed, the moths were all on the sliding glass door, I was watching them when I noticed they were slightly beating their wings against the glass all in unison. I thought they were going to hurt themselves beating so hard, when all of a sudden my whole room filled with this red-rose colored light and at the same time this overwhelming feeling of love poured into me, into my brain, and my I.Q. went through the ceiling--------words are hard to explain, I started seeing people I had known that had passed away. I could see my Grandfather as a infant in the womb and at the same time I could see him as a old man. Everything was together as one, God was the center of it all , all this love. So many things were told to me things I could not understand or hold. I feel like the main message they told me was I was loved and this is what it felt like and not to ever be scared of death, for this is where I would go. I did not want it to end, but the red light pulled away and I looked out on my balcony at the moths. I got out of bed went out onto the balcony with them, they were all flying around, but never off the balcony. Out of the darkness flew another moth, this ones color was red, yellow, orange and a little brown, big like the lunars. Over the next three days and nights all the moths flew away and were gone. This was 10 years ago. The experience forever changed me, I turned vegetarian almost 10 years now, I have done numerous fasting and other things to be closer to God like I was that night. I guess I am still on the journey trying to obtain knowledge.

Was the kind of experience difficult to express in words? Yes     While the experience was happening my I.Q. went through the ceiling.....Albert Einstein plus...everything was sped up for me to understand, some things I don't remember, but I feel like they are inside for me to figure out on my own.

At the time of this experience, was there an associated life threatening event?          Yes            Hodgkin's Disease with radiation pneumonia.

At what time during the experience were you at your highest level of consciousness and alertness?    This is hard to explain, during the (HIGHEST LEVEL), my consciousness was sped up so much that it was hard for my brain to remember, absorb--once it was over.

How did your highest level of consciousness and alertness during the experience compare to your normal every day consciousness and alertness?    More consciousness and alertness than normal

If your highest level of consciousness and alertness during the experience was different from your normal every day consciousness and alertness, please explain:            My I.Q. was a lot higher during the experience than it normally is and I believe this is why I was able to absorb better, was using more of my brain than I usually do...

Did your vision differ in any way from your normal, everyday vision (in any aspect, such as clarity, field of vision, colors, brightness, depth perception degree of solidness/transparency of objects, etc.)?  Uncertain      Uncertain, because once the red light happened, I could see the red light in my room, but then it was like the red light went into my brain, and from that point on everything I saw was inside the brain. It wasn't like I saw dead people walking around my room.

Did your hearing differ in any way from your normal, everyday hearing (in any aspect, such as clarity, ability to recognize source of sound, pitch, loudness, etc.)?            No      

Did you experience a separation of your consciousness from your body?     Uncertain

What emotions did you feel during the experience?            Overwhelming love, love was something that was hard to come by for me normally. This love was like the love you experience when the doctor hands you your newborn child.

Did you pass into or through a tunnel or enclosure?          Uncertain      I do not remember a tunnel, I don't know if I traveled anywhere, I felt like everything was brought to me inside my brain, I don't feel like I traveled into space or anything.

Did you see a light?           Yes     I saw red light, no white light.

Did you meet or see any other beings?           Yes     One of the first people I saw was someone who I do not know by name, but when I was 14 years of age was laying out by the pool on a raft and fell asleep. Had a strange dream in which this person, male, a little older than myself was standing at the waters edge of the pool, saying something to me and then he stepped onto the water was walked on top of water to me. Then I woke up. This dream has always stuck with me for some reason, feel like I know this person from somwhere. Anyway when the red light came into my roon he was the first person I saw. I really believe him to be real now.

Did you experience a review of past events in your life?    No      

Did you observe or hear anything regarding people or events during your experience that could be verified later?          Yes     Only the moths, I moved away for 5 years out of state, came back and within a few weeks a lunar moth was on my balcony of the apartment I was renting. A couple years later moved into new home, had just had my baby son, during the day I looked out on my balcony and the red, yellow moth was there.

Did you see or visit any beautiful or otherwise distinctive locations, levels or dimensions?           Yes            Levels and dimensions, hard to describe and remember, when I fast it is easier to gain somewhat the same feeling

Did you have any sense of altered space or time?   Yes    

Did you have a sense of knowing special knowledge, universal order and/or purpose?     Yes    

Did you reach a boundary or limiting physical structure? Uncertain     

Did you become aware of future events?       Uncertain
           

Did you have any psychic, paranormal or other special gifts following the experience you did not have prior to the experience?     Yes     I don't know what they are

Have you shared this experience with others?         Yes     I have shared this with a few other people and I feel like they were touched by it.

Did you have any knowledge of near death experience (NDE) prior to your experience?    Yes     I saw stuff on TV, unsolved mysteries etc..

How did you view the reality of your experience shortly (days to weeks) after it happened:            Experience was definitely real    I guess I felt like for some reason God decided to pay me a visit, why me I do not know.

Were there one or several parts of the experience especially meaningful or significant to you?    I felt so all alone in the world like I never really belonged, after the experience, I have become much more spiritual, but I am still one that keeps to myself

How do you currently view the reality of your experience:            Experience was definitely real   

Have your relationships changed specifically as a result of your experience?           Uncertain      My relationship have changed some, but this is a area which I am still working on.

Have your religious beliefs/practices changed specifically as a result of your experience?            Yes            I don't feel like any one religion is the one right one, all combined is the way, after all isn't there just one God? We all are one.

Following the experience, have you had any other events in your life, medications or substances which reproduced any part of the experience?         Yes     A few of the fasting I did, I felt like I was closer to God, but there was no red light, with the red light, I felt God had some to me.
