Experience description:

1. Out of body briefly in motorcycle accident, witnessed my body hit the car and the ground and then reintegrated. Age 20

2. Went through a tunnel into a woman's eyes while we gazed at each other on a couch. Vision dimmed to a light at a tunnel end, I went through the tunnel and expanded to fill the room in a state of unity with her. Coming out all I could say was "I love you". Age 20

3. A ball of light formed at the base of my spine and raced to my head exploding like a white firework. Face down, I pushed myself up to tell my wife what happened and I couldn't speak out loud. Word did not emerge. I looked down and saw my body on the bed, was afraid and re integrated with it. Age 26

4. Laying on my back after meditation and resting a loud sound like a train or wind overtook my senses. I raced through a tunnel and emerged in a clear space there on the bed. I could partially sit up and could raise both hands to touch each other but my physical hands stayed on the bed. I could feel my hands coming together and I could see but there were no hands to be seen. When I looked at the room objects were sharp but seen as though through a faceted glass or crystal. The sharpness was unusual because I had no glasses on and I am very nearsighted. Numerous times. Age 26

5. Laying on my back after meditation and resting a loud sound like a train or wind overtook my senses. I raced through a tunnel and emerged in another place. One time a

Any associated medications or substances with the potential to affect the experience?     No

Was the kind of experience difficult to express in words? No

At the time of this experience, was there an associated life threatening event?          No       Only one situation was life threatening. Others felt like facing death to go through them but began during deep resting, usually in bed.

What was your level of consciousness and alertness during the experience?           Extremely clear.

Was the experience dream like in any way?   Some were like very lucid dreams. Vivid scenes, situations, landscapes, villages, fields of flowers, flower arrangements.

Did you experience a separation of your consciousness from your body?     Yes     Merely sensory but invisible. I had arms, legs, torso, vision, hearing but it was energetic (for lack of a better word) not physical.

What emotions did you feel during the experience?            Fear of death on entering. Knowing I had a choice and choosing to go into the experience rather than pull out.

Did you hear any unusual sounds or noises?           Roaring sounds on entering. Sometimes surrounded by voices in a foreign tongue that I understood while in the experience.

LOCATION DESCRIPTION:  Did you recognize any familiar locations or any locations from familiar religious teachings or encounter any locations inhabited by incredible or amazing creatures?            Yes     I transported myself to a friends neighborhood and was above their house for awhile. This was someone I wanted to be with very much but couldn't.

Did you see a light?           Yes     Yes, in the kundalini experience and sometimes at the end of the tunnel I went through.

Did you meet or see any other beings?           No       Never saw any. did hear voices in one experience. The voices seemed to be communicating something significant but not remembered on the level of meaning after.

Did you experiment while out of the body or in another, altered state? Yes

Yes, tried to move at will outside my body. Not much success. Did go the friend's house, did move my arms at will outside my body.

Did you observe or hear anything regarding people or events during your experience that could be verified later?          No

Did you notice how your 5 senses were working, and if so, how were they different?          Yes            Vision out of body was clear but faceted. Still had touch, sight, hearing don't recall any smell or taste.

Did you have any sense of altered space or time?   No       Though the length of the experiences is not obvious to me. Probably short.

Did you have a sense of knowing, special knowledge, universal order and/or purpose?    Yes     In one experience after going through the tunnel and past any sensation to a state of unknowable ??? I re-emerged relatively slowly so that I could feel each new experience as it arose. First came a sense of presence, am-ness. Then that which was I extruded into a hollow transparent tube. The tube morphed into a hollow clear body shape and then the clear volume filled in with mass and darker content upon which the I sense moved into the mass body and I was back where I started as a human form.

One experience actually drew me deeper into a perception of a flower arrangement. At first the flowers were just pretty like flowers in the sun, lighted from outside. Then I noticed twinkles of light coming from the flowers themselves that drew me closer. As I looked closer the twinkling grew stronger and more and more of the color came from within the flowers. I kept staring in deeper and suddenly all the illumination came from within the flowers. I looked deeper yet wondering "what is this?". Then something popped and I suddenly saw in the most intimate was that it was "me"! The whole thing was me, observer and observed in one. The most intimate experience ever.

Did you reach a boundary or limiting physical structure?             Yes     The boundary was the choice to go into the tunnel, to let go or not. If I crossed the boundary I had another experience. It felt like being willing to die in order to go through the boundary.

Did you become aware of future events?       No

Were you involved in or aware of a decision regarding your return to the body?       Yes     Just the sense of being on the return path or sometimes the choice to see if I still had control to go back if I wanted to.

Did you have any psychic, paranormal or other special gifts following the experience that you did not have prior to the experience?         No

Did you have any changes of attitudes or beliefs following the experience?   Yes     Just an experience based understanding of the broader dimensions of human experience available and a recognition of similarity to near death experiences other's report. I can see how it could be interpreted into a religious framework if someone carried a strong belief structure into the experience.

How has the experience affected your relationships? Daily life? Religious practices? Career choices?       It has given me insight along the way to shifting my perspective as to who I am and toward letting go of limiting beliefs about that identity.

Has your life changed specifically as a result of your experience?         Yes     Seems like the experiences are a part of an overall growth. Most of it much more ordinary seeming.

Have you shared this experience with others?         Yes     Intrigued, impressed, supportive.

What emotions did you experience following your experience?  Curiosity as to where it could go?

What was the best and worst part of your experience?      No worst. Hardest was facing the death feeling.

Following the experience, have you had any other events in your life, medications or substances which reproduced any part of the experience?         No

Did the questions asked and information you provided accurately and comprehensively describe your experience?               Yes

Please offer any suggestions you may have to improve this questionnaire.    There seems to be an initial presumption in the questionnaire that trauma is a most likely precipitant to experiences. With one exception my experiences were not related to any immediate trauma. There was however a correlation to the process of letting go of broken attachments in relationships
