Experience description:

I've been a little reluctant to tell this experience but after reading pages and pages from the archives I feel a little more encouraged to do so.  I am a pastor and I have a prophetic gift.  Sometimes this gift has been amazingly wonderful and sometimes its been a little terrifying and even a little un-nerving but most of the time its a great thing.   

Knowing 9/11: 

Mainly I have prophetic dreams and visions which I'd like to share with you first and then I want to tell you about coming out of my body.  I first noticed this in 2000 when my fianc�e and I were planning to get married.  We were planning our honey moon which was going to require a plane to get there but for some reason I was seriously disturbed by this.  I have flown on planes since I was a little kid and I flew around the world when I was 18 so this shouldn't have been a big deal but for the next year I was greatly worried about traveling by air and I prayed daily about it but the warning never left me.  

The night before we left on our trip I was a nervous wreck.  I was preparing myself for death in my mind because this nagging worry about flying wouldn't go away...I couldn't get any peace at all.  When my in-laws dropped us off at the airport, I remember looking back at them with the feeling that would be the last time I would ever see them.  I was a complete mess and I couldn't figure out why this was happening.  Well we made our trip and back safely but by the time we arrived home, my parents had taken a trip to Hawaii and the nagging worry was still with me.  In fact, when a plane flew overhead it scared me and I just couldn't figure this out because as I said, I've flown all my life.  Then 9/11 happened just three weeks later.  I knew something was wrong with planes, but I didn't know what and never conceived of anything like what happened that day.   

As you can imagine, I stayed quiet about this and I've only ever told just a few people but this is where things really started to happen in my life.  That was extremely un-nerving to experience something like this.  I treaded carefully about it and tried to remain objective when another of our youth drank antifreeze and shut his kidneys down.  In yet another dream, I saw Christ walk into Mike's hospital room, put his hands on him and make him well.  The doctors told Mike he would be on dialysis for the rest of his life.  The next day I went to the hospital to visit Mike and I prayed for him and I told he and his mother who was not a Christian at the time that Mike would be healed.  Several days passed and we got a call that Mike's kidneys started working.  Mike is a healthy young man today!   

Family members in the afterlife:  

After these experiences I began to see other people in the afterlife.  Thankfully they've all been good experiences.  My uncle Carl who had had MS died in 2004 and I saw him happier than he's ever been fully restored.  The disease ruined many things for him including his smile but his smile was fully and completely restored.   

I saw my grandmother in the afterlife.  She was young again and I was surprised to see her with auburn red hair.  I had never seen a color picture of my grandmother when she was young of course.  I called my father and told him his mother had auburn red colored hair.  I would never have known this aside from this experience.  

I once saw into heaven and saw a young girl there with radiant long blond hair.  I couldn't make out her face but I remember she was talking with some other young kids there.  I knew this girl somehow but I didn't know why.  Then she said to these other kids that she has a brother on Earth who's a pastor and I immediately knew she was speaking about me.  I just had this amazing awareness that I knew this.  Later I discovered my mother had lost two children to miscarriage after my little sister and I were born.  We actually have family siblings there and I have seen one of them.  

A good but troubled friend in the afterlife: 

In 2007 I lost a friend named Chad.  Chad drowned in a lake.  For whatever reason in the part of the state he was living in at the time, the nuclear power company in the area was draining the lakes of the water.  There were places in the lake where you could actually walk across sandbars to the other side.  Chad tried that and got stuck in some muck that ultimately pulled him down and drowned him.  Chad was a troubled guy.  He couldn't get his life together and at age 30 he was still living with his parents in a world of a mess. His parents and I were about the only positive example in his life and while I could have forgotten him when I moved away, I stayed close to be there for him.  After Chad died, I saw him in the afterlife.  Chad had been short and skinny here on Earth.  He wasn't the best looking kid you ever saw either but in heaven Chad is tall and strong.  I saw his face and he was changed.  He still looked like himself but it was with amazing improvements.  For a moment as I saw this I actually envied him and wanted to be just like him.  Believe me, I've never wanted to be like Chad! But what I saw of him in the afterlife and knowing that he had just given his life to God made him an amazing site.  I did share this with his parents and it greatly blessed them.   

Out of my body and hoping for eternity: 

The above events are just some of the many many instances where I've had a dream or vision that was either prophetic or whether I could see into eternity.  Most of these have occurred as interruptions in the middle of the day but I have come to know and expect them.  The most amazing event I've ever experienced happened in 2008 in the middle of the night.  As a pastor, you can imagine that I know my Bible.  And I know the events foretelling the coming of Jesus Christ a second time to the Earth.  I am a believer that these events are coming in my lifetime and maybe sooner than I think given the rapid number of things happening in the world that seem to have a Biblical significance.   

One night in May 2008 I was laying in bed next to my wife.  I was awakened by a very loud noise that just blared like a horn.  Instantly I was propelled out of my body and could actually see myself laying there in bed in the darkness of the room with only the bathroom light on down the hallway.  I was directly overtop of myself and I could see myself but I could also see everything else...it was like I could look in as many directions as I wanted to all at once.  I was also very aware of everything in the house and I wasn't afraid at all.  In fact, I felt like I had been electrified if there is such a thing.  The experience is like nothing else.  I've heard many attempts to try and explain experiences like this and yes it's difficult.  I was amazed at how I was full of power or electricity or whatever it was.  I was also aware that this kind of power could not be contained in the physical body.  It was for the spiritual body and yet there was something more to this.  I have never in my life felt so strong, so good, so radically energized as I did in that moment.  Instantly I knew that Jesus was coming.  The light outside my window was so bright it lit the night sky.  And as if it were suddenly afternoon due to the light I saw Jesus coming on horseback with legions of people that were un-numberable.  He was actually coming and the sense of the reality of this was beyond any dream I had ever had in my life.  This was as if it were ACTUALLY happening and I've never felt so electrified or witnessed something so surreal.  Just as I was viewing this, I was propelled back into my body and was awake.  I jumped out of my bed and ran to the window but much to my disappointment it was just another dark night outside.  While I'm sure I was out of the body, I'm not sure what to make of this other than to compare it possibly to God's Revelation to John.  The next morning I woke up and had knowledge I didn't have the night before.  I knew that in September 2008, just 4 months later there would be an attack on the United States that would be financial in nature and I knew that Satan would try to kill me.  It has now been shown that there was, and that there is evidence for economic terrorism at the heart of the 2008 market crash.  Also in September, I came down with double pneumonia and had to be hospitalized for four days.  The doctor said I was very fortunate.

 At the time of your experience was there an associated life-threatening event?   No 

Was the experience difficult to express in words?  No    

At what time during the experience were you at your highest level of consciousness and alertness?    As soon as I was out of the body I was astonishingly more than I am in the body.

 How did your highest level of consciousness and alertness during the experience compare to your normal everyday consciousness and alertness?      More consciousness and alertness than normal   It can possibly be explained as the difference between being a young man who's uneducated, inexperienced, untested and a complete novice versus a seasoned professional who has the education, experience, testing, confidence and capability to perform a task.  Even as an adult with the education and experience etc...nothing compared to what more that actually is out of the body.

 Please compare your vision during the experience to your everyday vision that you had immediately prior to the time of the experience.   Somewhat fuller with the ability to see a span of things at once

 Please compare your hearing during the experience to your everyday hearing that you had immediately prior to the time of the experience.   The horn sound was the only thing I remember hearing but in my mind I could hear myself in awe at what I was seeing.

 Did you see or hear any earthly events that were occurring during a time that your consciousness / awareness was apart from your physical / earthly body?   No  

What emotions did you feel during the experience?   It was like being injected with adrenaline times a million.  I also experienced a joy that's just inexplicable.  It was exhilarating kind of like when you go down that first hill on a roller coaster.  It was like taking a deep breath and actually getting one as if you'd been doing cardio at the gym and that sense of deep breath you get from that.  Its a euphoria of goodness and wholeness.  

Did you pass into or through a tunnel?   No  

Did you see an unearthly light?   Yes   This light came through the sky as if the sky tore open and the light who was Jesus lit the entire sky and made it blue.

 Did you seem to encounter a mystical being or presence, or hear an unidentifiable voice?   I encountered a definite being, or a voice clearly of mystical or unearthly origin
I saw Jesus but I couldn't make out facial features

 Did you encounter or become aware of any beings who previously lived on earth who are described by name in religions (for example: Jesus, Muhammad, Buddha, etc.)?   Yes   Jesus was the only person I could identify.  There were literally millions upon millions of people coming with him and some were angles but I didn't recognize any of them.

 Did you encounter or become aware of any deceased (or alive) beings?   No  

Did you become aware of past events in your life during your experience?   No  

Did you seem to enter some other, unearthly world?   A clearly mystical or unearthly realm
 I consider outside the body a mystical realm to be sure but I didn't leave the Earth.

 Did time seem to speed up or slow down?   Everything seemed to be happening at once; or time stopped or lost all meaning
 Things were happening at once.  I think this is why its so difficult to put into words since we are used to a linear time based reality.  This was lightening fast yet I spent some time in this condition.  Very hard to describe.

 Did you suddenly seem to understand everything?   Everything about myself or others
Interestingly, nothing I had ever wondered about even mattered.  What was happening in front of my face was all that even mattered.

 Did you reach a boundary or limiting physical structure?   No

 Did you come to a border or point of no return?   No

 Did scenes from the future come to you?  Scenes from the world's future 
As a Christian pastor who happens to be a futurist regarding Biblical eschatology, I do believe the events I saw will happen in the future even though in this OBE I was witnessing them

 During your experience, did you encounter any specific information / awareness suggesting that there either is (or is not) continued existence after earthly life (�life after death�)?   Yes   I saw people coming from heaven and I was clearly out of my body and that suggests existence in the afterlife.

 During your experience, did you encounter any specific information / awareness that God or a supreme being either does (or does not) exist?   Yes   Clearly God exists and if I had had a doubt about it this experience would have eliminated that doubt totally.

 During your experience, did you encounter any specific information / awareness that you either did (or did not) exist prior to this lifetime?   No  

During your experience, did you encounter any specific information / awareness that a mystical universal connection or unity/oneness either does (or does not) exist?   Yes   What I saw seemed to be the consumation of everything and in that one moment this made sense and nothing else mattered.

 During your experience, did you encounter any specific information / awareness regarding earthly life�s meaning or purpose?   Yes  

During your experience, did you encounter any specific information / awareness regarding earthly life�s difficulties, challenges, or hardships?   No  

During your experience, did you encounter any specific information / awareness regarding love?   Yes   Yes, Ultimate Love.

 During your experience, did you encounter any other specific information / awareness that you have not shared in other questions that is relevant to living our earthly lives?   No  

Did you have a sense of knowing special knowledge or purpose?   Yes   Once again this reinforced my sense of calling and the need to be a witness for Christ as the time is short.

 What occurred during your experience included:   Content that was entirely consistent with the beliefs you had at the time of your experience   I heard a horn sound and Scripture specifically says Christ's return will come with a trumpet sound.

 How accurately do you remember the experience in comparison to other life events that occurred around the time of the experience?   I remember the experience as accurately as other life events that occurred around the time of the experience  

Discuss any changes that might have occurred in your life after your experience:   I've begun to record any prophetic event or anything like this so that I have a record of it.
My experience directly resulted in:   Moderate changes in my life

Did you have any changes in your values or beliefs after the experience that occurred as a result of the experience?   No  

Are there one or several parts of your experience that are especially meaningful or significant to you?   Seeing Christ coming was the most awesome thing I had ever seen.

 Do you have any psychic, non-ordinary or other special gifts after your experience that you did not have before the experience?   No  

Are there one or several parts of your experience that are especially meaningful or significant to you?     Seeing Christ coming was the most awesome thing I had ever seen.

Have you ever shared this experience with others?   Yes  I shared this after thinking about it for a day or two as the entire thing became a clear memory.  I shared it with my father who was very supportive and who believed me .

 Did you have any knowledge of near death experience (NDE) prior to your experience?   Yes   I may have had a NDE when I was 4 or 5 nearly drowning in a pool.  My father allowed me to go no further than the steps while hanging on to the railing of the pool but I lost it and drifted out a ways.  I remember holding my breath as he had taught me and then suddenly I saw him from above jump in and rescue me but by the time he had hold of me I was back in the pool.  I have also heard of stories but never really studied NDE's until 2008 and then only briefly.

 What did you believe about the reality of your experience shortly (days to weeks) after it happened:   Experience was definitely real   It was just as real later as it was when it happened.

 What do you believe about the reality of your experience at the current time:   Experience was definitely real   I remember it as if it were yesterday all the way down to the feelings and emotions.

 Have your relationships changed specifically as a result of your experience?   Yes  

Have your religious beliefs/spiritual practices changed specifically as a result of your experience?   Yes   I am more accepting of these kinds of events than I was perhaps.

 At any time in your life, has anything ever reproduced any part of the experience?   Uncertain   Possibly when I was 5 and lost control in the pool.

 Is there anything else that you would like to add about your experience?   In the experience, it was as real as it could have been yet I was out of the body and that is a whole other reality.

 Did the questions asked and information that you provided accurately and comprehensively describe your experience?   Yes   Yes I believe the questions that were asked were well thought out and what I described was a accurate and comprehensive as I could make it. What could a national organization with an interest in near death experience (NDE) do that would be of interest to you?        I would love to see stories of people with a Christian faith collected who have had an NDE or OBE in order to encourage and strengthen others who've lost loved ones or who fear death.
