Experience description:

My friend and I were standing by the fire place in my den on a sunny summer day. We both were having marital problems, hers' worse. We talked and the sadness and sorrow were almost unbearable. I was an only child and Donnis was my best friend-sister, so I felt her pain. With in a flash suddenly there were 4 bodies in the room.@ standing by the fire place unmoving, not breathing, eyes unblinking. And the other 2bodies dressed the same seeming to be US, was amazed, awed un-believing, awed. Then we asked mostly me Donnie was always the weaker ,and more afraid. What has happened? How ? What are we going to do? So many questions I was asking with Donnie just saying "I don't know". We did not know how we got out so when I asked how will we get back in filled me and I guess Donnie too. Being a nurse I walked over to my body and said "What are we supposed to do-step in at waist level? And knowing that we could not do this I felt the worst fear I had felt in my life. Instantly we both in a flash were back in our bodies, filled with overwhelming relief. We had children to finish raising. I went to bed and actually covered my head and Donnie sat on my porch till she composed herself. And that is the story but not the end. That was 37 yrs. ago and I still do not understand the why or the how. My dearest friend died in less than a year. The autopsy said no known cause of death, she was 32yrs old. Her personal physician said she died of "a broken heart". I still miss her. Her husband is on his 4th wife. I left my husband and have remained alone.

Any associated medications or substances with the potential to affect the experience? No      just two friends talking about deep feelings of pain and depression. a sharing of sorrow. deep sorrow and anguish.

Was the kind of experience difficult to express in words?          No      that people would think we were crazy. I still have only told a chosen few and this is my first time in public.

What was your level of consciousness and alertness during the experience?            Alert in big red letters. Wide awake, totally alert.

Was the experience dream like in any way?  No. Two people cannot dream or hallucinate the same event; it is impossible.

Did you experience a separation of your consciousness from your body?          Yes    my standing body was still .my other body was talking ,moving ,walking. and I could see all 4.There were 2 people in the room but 4 bodies.

What emotions did you feel during the experience?          Shock, shock, shock, surprise, awe, then fear like I had never imagined.

Did you hear any unusual sounds or noises?          Just the ones me and Donnie made when we said something. The usual sounds on a day in summer. Bird song, a car.

LOCATION DESCRIPTION:  Did you recognize any familiar locations or any locations from familiar religious teachings or encounter any locations inhabited by incredible or amazing creatures?        No      the only hell was fear and heaven was returning to my body.

Did you experiment while out of the body or in another, altered state? No

later I wished that I had tried to move thru walls, something stupid , from a young foolish non-believer.

Did you observe or hear anything regarding people or events during your experience that could be verified later?         No response          Donnie was my only verification and like I said she died in less than a year.

Did you notice how your 5 senses were working, and if so, how were they different?     No      I could surely see and hear. I did not smell anything. I did not try to touch anything. But I sure could FEEL emotions.

Did you have any sense of altered space or time?  No      a sunny afternoon

Did you have a sense of knowing, special knowledge, universal order and/or purpose?     No      just learned that miracles or strange things do happen

Did you reach a boundary or limiting physical structure?           No response          I was too shocked and scared to try. I just wanted back in that still body. Or I just wanted there to be 1 of me and 1 of Donnie.

Did you become aware of future events?      No

Were you involved in or aware of a decision regarding your return to the body?          No      I had no decision to get out and no decision to return. It just happened to us. We sure did not chose it. We had never heard of out of body experiences before. I never did until years later Shirley McLean wrote Out on a limb, and she talked about a silver cord. There was no silver cord in my experience.

Did you have any psychic, paranormal or other special gifts following the experience that you did not have prior to the experience?           Uncertain          From this experience, I knew there was a spiritual body. How could I doubt it. I had seen mine and Donnie's too.  So I started church hopping, and found the same teachings that had made me chose to become an atheist in the 5th grade. But I kept looking and found Eastern masters and it was like rain on a desert. Your heart or soul can hear the truth.I kept searching and reading and traveling until I have found peace of mind and heart. So I guess the experience for a once very stubborn young lady was necessary.

Did you have any changes of attitudes or beliefs following the experience?          Yes    I knew that I did not know it all.

How has the experience affected your relationships? Daily life? Religious practices? Career choices?       It is still hard for me to love evil people. Or people that do evil things.

Has your life changed specifically as a result of your experience?       Yes          Yes I became certain that there is a power greater than myself.

Have you shared this experience with others?        Yes    A chosen few.

What emotions did you experience following your experience?  Mostly shock, fear and then relief.

What was the best and worst part of your experience?    The best was learning that there is a supernatural. The worst part was wondering all the rest of my life, why?

Is there anything else you would like to add concerning the experience?          That reality can fast become un-reality.

Following the experience, have you had any other events in your life, medications or substances which reproduced any part of the experience?    No          Years later when books came out on the subject I bought a few and tried to make it happen.  But was unsuccessful. I have never been out of my body again.

Did the questions asked and information you provided accurately and comprehensively describe your experience?           Yes

Please offer any suggestions you may have to improve this questionnaire.   No I think you covered it all with out too much repetition
