Experience description:

I have always sought knowledge at a different level than my peers and family, as such I have experimented with many religious/ spiritual exercises. At the age of 14 I began to attempt to induce trance states and Out of Body Experiences. One afternoon while meditating I entered a trance state and experienced the most intense episode of my life. For lack of a better term I watched as a version of myself lived through several experiences of a life that occurred in what appeared to be late in the middle ages in northern Europe. Themes ranged from sexual encounters, to mundane life experiences but culminated around the fact that the person that I was held a blatant hatred for nobility. I viewed several instances of espionage including the theft of official documents and their replacement with fake countermanding papers sealed with a stolen or manufactured signet. At one point I observed this 'me' being caught and taken to what must have been a keep or some form of dungeon.

I remember being adamant in stating "I did not do it!" then immediately thinking "(this time)". Found guilty by my accusers, and rightly so, I was sentenced to death by way of public execution. On the day of the execution I was lead to a platform. While enroute I experienced sweating, gnawing anxiety in my stomach, racing panic, and an ultimate fear. Upon arrival at the platform I was urged to voluntarily place my head upon a stump of wood, as I resisted with denials of my guilt I was assured that the executioner did not care about my plight as his job was my death. After placing my head on the block I was soon decapitated and watched as my eyes tumbled down away from my body. At this time I began to fall. In the first minutes I screamed until I became weary of this action and began to look around. I found myself falling at an unbelievable speed through a dark shaft that appeared to pass many levels of cavern. I believe I could see darting eyes staring into the emptiness as I passed. After falling for an eternity I landed in a very strange place with two directions to choose from. I attempted to go forward but was compelled by an unseen force to go the other way. After turning I found myself inside what I can only describe as a river. (Styx?) I attempted to walk, run, crawl and then swim to no avail all the while feeling as though some thing was chasing me in an effort to do me harm. Finally exhausted mentally I attempted to utilize my will to move with immediate success. As I succeeded in travel I was aware that the thing casually coming for me had now realized that it was time to take a more active approach. The level of fear I felt cannot be described. The running away and pursuit lasted for what seemed a long time. At the end of this experience I found an area where there were small lights, millions of small lights. I picked a point of light that called to me and entered it. I can only guess by how I felt that this was how I chose another incarnation.

I came out of the trance sweating, nervous and out of breath. This experience was so real that I have changed my whole belief system.
