Experience description:

I'll only elaborate on the last two. If you want, email me and I'll describe the previous three or four the best that I can. All experiences have been while I was lying in bed trying to go to sleep.

The most recent is more of a wash than I would like. I was trying to pull "myself" out of "myself" but couldn't. I was fully aware that my body was separate from the part of me trying to "get up". I tried three or four times to get up, but gave up and decided to just sleep. I'm trying desperately to repeat my experiences and was actively trying to go "walking" out of body.

The previous time was the most fun and I guess you could say educational for me. As with all other times, I felt "myself" shedding my physical body. This experience is the time I learned I could control my actions. I walked out of my bedroom and went toward the rear of my house toward the kids rooms. I walked into each of their rooms to check on them! Afterwards, I knew I could have some fun and went outside... only not through a door. I just went up. I did notice that everything in the attic was quite clear to me and was surprised at the detail in which I could see everything considering that there is no constant source of light up there. I realized in the experience prior to this that I could ( I know this sounds corny) FLY! Of all the things I might could have accomplished, I chose flight. Not the most responsible choice, but I wasn't thinking about responsibility at the time, only about the fact I could control myself. The strange part of this to me is how my experience ended. I read a lot tonight in the FAQ section of this site. The "silver cord" thing piqued my curiosity. I had no cord (none that I was aware of anyway) but was PULLED back to my body! I was above my house when I felt the pull and immediately came back down through the roof, through the attic, and into the hallway. I had no desire to end my little outing and was trying to keep from going back. I could feel my feet being pulled across the carpet in the hall and across the hardwood in the living room and dining room. I was pulled through walls though and only felt a kind of tingle as I passed through them. As I got back to my body, I realized my struggle was pointless and let it pull me back. as soon as I entered my body I was conscious again. I'm always awake and alert as soon as I "re-enter" myself. This was over a month ago.

Any associated medications or substances with the potential to affect the experience?     Uncertain            On one occasion I had been to a party, drank, and sobered up before coming home. I was very relaxed yet totally sober.

Was the kind of experience difficult to express in words? No

At the time of this experience, was there an associated life threatening event?          No

What was your level of consciousness and alertness during the experience?           Totally alert and conscious. Aware and cognizant of everything.

Was the experience dream like in any way?   Yes, but I was too aware to be just dreaming and I knew every time that my body was still in bed, separate from "me".

Did you experience a separation of your consciousness from your body?     Yes     I appeared the same as my body as far as I could tell. I didn't think to look in a mirror:)

What emotions did you feel during the experience?            Confusion at first. As later experiences came, happiness was the emotion of choice. I welcomed the opportunity to do it again.

Did you hear any unusual sounds or noises?           Nothing unusual. The first time was bad.  I do not like to talk about it, but will if requested.

LOCATION DESCRIPTION:  Did you recognize any familiar locations or any locations from familiar religious teachings or encounter any locations inhabited by incredible or amazing creatures?    No

Did you see a light?           Yes     Only ambient light that came from nowhere in particular.

Did you meet or see any other beings?           Yes     The first experience included three others. They held me down. The language they spoke was not familiar to me. Since then, the only ones I have seen are myself, my wife beside my body, and my kids. All asleep in their beds.

Did you experiment while out of the body or in another, altered state? Yes     I attempted to learn better control of my actions. It's almost like trying to learn how to walk again.

Did you observe or hear anything regarding people or events during your experience that could be verified later?          No

Did you notice how your 5 senses were working, and if so, how were they different?          Yes     I could see perfectly. I could hear, though how well I'm not sure. I heard the air handler that moves air for the air conditioning running as I went through the attic. I do not remember smelling anything. I did not try to taste anything. The first time, I could feel the...presences... (that is the best way I can describe them) holding me down. In the other experiences, I could feel myself passing through structures, but could also feel my feet on the floor surfaces.

Did you have any sense of altered space or time?   No       I knew the approximate time.

Did you have a sense of knowing, special knowledge, universal order and/or purpose?    No

Did you reach a boundary or limiting physical structure?             Yes     Once. The first time. I flew toward a 5'x6' picture window and immediately returned to my body upon impact.

Did you become aware of future events?       No

Were you involved in or aware of a decision regarding your return to the body?       Yes     I was aware of my return but have never decided to return on my own.

Did you have any psychic, paranormal or other special gifts following the experience that you did not have prior to the experience?         No

Did you have any changes of attitudes or beliefs following the experience?   Yes     That there is more to our lives than just life and death. There is more to come, and judging by my first experience, there are unseen forces that are truly trying to take advantage of our weaknesses.

How has the experience affected your relationships? Daily life? Religious practices? Career choices?       None other than trying to do it again. I want to know what s possible through this.

Has your life changed specifically as a result of your experience?         Yes     From the first experience, I learned a valuable lesson. To distance myself from things that invite unwanted presences and acts that may draw their attention.

Have you shared this experience with others?         Yes     My wife. She's a little freaked out by it and doesn't want me to pursue it further, but luckily doesn't think I'm looney.

What emotions did you experience following your experience?  The very first one was a terrifying experience. I will explain that in an email if you choose to ask. I really don't like to talk about it. Others afterward have been pleasant and welcomed.

What was the best and worst part of your experience?      Ha! The first one was all bad. The best part is the freedom of exploration.

Is there anything else you would like to add concerning the experience?        I KNOW that ALL of what I have experienced was real. I am a skeptic regarding most things that cannot be explained, but am also open minded enough to discount nothing. This is real. I have no doubt. I want to learn more about it and want to continue to experience it.

Following the experience, have you had any other events in your life, medications or substances which reproduced any part of the experience?         No       Nothing specific. I've tried to induce, but have never been successful. Every time has been spontaneous.

Did the questions asked and information you provided accurately and comprehensively describe your experience?               Yes     Yes, of everything I divulged, the information is as true to the letter as I remember it. I do have more experiences than what I've typed here. My first experience was very bad. The experiences after my first and leading up to the two I described here are mundane and not truly worthy of the time to type. They were just a part of a learning curve.

Please offer any suggestions you may have to improve this questionnaire.    I have no improvement suggestions yet, but do ask that you follow up by email. I have many questions and need help if I'm to ever gain control over this. Thank you for posting the FAQ tab. If nothing else, you have helped me to realise that I'm not the only one that has experienced this phenomenon.
