I felt as though I was traveling through a long tube of light similar to opening sequence of Space 2001. I came out of the tube into a large dark enclosure in the middle of which was a glowing sphere. In the middle of the sphere was a seated figure. As I approached, the figure got up and met me.  I said 'Who are you?'. He replied 'Who do you think I am?'. 'You are me'. 'Yes, That's right'.

I asked if I would marry my girlfriend. He said not and I felt he meant I would never marry. I asked what would happen to me and he showed me a lonely old man sat on a boat watching young people zooming around on jet skis. At that time jet skis weren't invented. I had that experience a few months ago and the my hair stood on end when I remembered back to the OBE.

I asked if I could see my girlfriend. He replied sure and I was immediately transported to Switzerland. I stood in front of her. She was Dressed in brown, sitting in her grandfather's chair and listening to a record I gave as a parting gift.

I asked if she would phone me tomorrow at 7pm but at my mother's house and not at my home in Oxford. She replied that she could not because she was at her father's house. Note, her father thought I was after his money rather than his daughter. I said if she was really fed up she would find a way. She said she would try.

I then said I had to go because of the strain. I was immediately back in the UK. I opened my eyes got up from where I was sitting and went out for a great night with my buddies.

The next day I was sat by the phone at 7pm. "20 minutes later it rang. Before the caller could utter a word I said 'Hello, *******. I thought you were going to call at 7'. She said she'd been trying since 7. She had walked to the post office and been trying on the public telephone since 7. I described what she was doing and wearing the previous night. Spot on. She was not aware of my presence.

The main point of this experience is that it predicted. I was ready by the phone and only let my girlfriend verify what I had seen.  I have also never married and have owned a sailing boat for many years.  I have had some interesting experiences since then but none so vivid. I have told the story to many people and always asked them to put their own interpretation on it.

What was your level of consciousness and alertness during the experience?           Awake. Sat upright in the dark with my eyes close.

During the experience, I don't think I was aware of my physical surroundings. More like my attention was elsewhere just like reading a book.

            Was the experience dream like in any way?   Not really. I was totally in control of my consciousness. In a dream you don't have that control, you just go with the flow.

Did you experience a separation of your consciousness from your body?     Yes

I was in human form. I had the distinct impression that the form could have been whatever I imagined, and I saw myself as a human.

What emotions did you feel during the experience?            Some fear as I saw an unpleasant future. Some affection when I saw my girlfriend. A deep sense of revelation.

Did you hear any unusual sounds or noises?           I was aware of normal sounds but only internal.

LOCATION DESCRIPTION:  Did you recognize any familiar locations or any locations from familiar religious teachings or encounter any locations inhabited by incredible or amazing creatures?    No, Although later experiences suggest a form of existence which is pleasant.

Did you see a light?           No

Did you meet or see any other beings?           Yes, A figure dressed in a robe. I believe I was talking to my soul for want of a better word. A kind of guardian angel.

Did you experiment while out of the body or in another, altered state? Yes

I visited my girlfriend. Also a foresaw my future.

Did you observe or hear anything regarding people or events during your experience that could be verified later?          Yes

I Asked my girlfriend to phone me at a specific time and at an unusual location. She did. I also described events that I could not have known and she verified them.

Did you notice how your 5 senses were working, and if so, how were they different?          Yes

Hearing and vision seemed normal but I didn't smell or feel anything.

Did you have any sense of altered space or time?   Uncertain

The traveling from UK to Switzerland was almost instantaneous.

Did you have a sense of knowing, special knowledge, universal order and/or purpose?    Yes

Only from subsequent experience. I don't want to put an interpretation on this experience. I want it to speak for itself.

Did you reach a boundary or limiting physical structure?             Uncertain

I was aware of a boundary but I had not reached it. The hall felt vast but finite.

Did you become aware of future events?       Yes

I saw myself as a bitter, unmarried old man in poor health and owning a boat. All this has occurred.

Were you involved in or aware of a decision regarding your return to the body?       Yes

Yes, on letting go I was immediately returned to my body.

Did you have any psychic, paranormal or other special gifts following the experience that you did not have prior to the experience?         Uncertain

I think I have always been 'sensitive'.  I started meditating to get to sleep and I had a few less vivid experiences.

Did you have any changes of attitudes or beliefs following the experience?   Yes

I now believe strongly in life outside of the known physical existence.

How has the experience affected your relationships? Daily life? Religious practices? Career choices?       Probably not much as it should.

Has your life changed specifically as a result of your experience?         No

I should have changed myself but did not.

Mostly interested belief but some skeptical. I never tried to put an interpretation on the OBE. I doubt if they were influenced.

What emotions did you experience following your experience?  A sense of awe and to some extent a sense of concern about my future.

What was the best and worst part of your experience?      Seeing a future I didn't like.

Is there anything else you would like to add concerning the experience?        It led to a search for truth. It did not take over my life but I am getting a little insight into the nature of things.
