Experience description:

Lying in bed, early morning, alert, awake - then found myself in a spiral tunnel, walls resembled oil on water, sort of mottled purple, bright light ahead, aware of other people somehow - relatives, others and my mother I think - after some time of travel in the tunnel ( unable to say how long), I was able to reach a point where I could decide to go on or go back - I decided to go back quite calmly and deliberately in the clear knowledge and understanding that "I could go back (into the tunnel and complete my journey, or what ever it was) any time I wished". I seemed to be saying this to-myself. I was then "back" in bed, awake, alert and quite calm and not the least bit bothered by the experience. It was not until some time after that the event or experience seemed "strange" or unusual to me and I started to get it some thought.

What was your level of consciousness and alertness during the experience?           Alert, awake, conscious, thinking (my state of mind seemed to be my normal self)
