The next thing I knew I was back in the hospital bed and taking a breath - it was like a tap had been turned in my throat (I remember that was how I thought of it at the time) and I was able to breathe. The nurse was so happy to see this, and the doctor who came in after said I had been extremely lucky to survive. I do not know if I clinically died or not, but suspect I did. I have not enquired into my medical records because it did not seem necessary. I just know that the experience changed my life - I became so much more aware of my own intuition, the state of the world and esoteric matters. I took up yoga and started a journey of exploration, growth and learning which has resulted in me understanding my intuitive abilities and being able to do psychic readings for others. I have just written a book which is a vision for the future and in which I describe energy - I feel like much of my understanding came from the Experience. I feel it was a gift for which I am very grateful.

At the time of your experience was there an associated life-threatening event? Yes I was in intensive care with Status Asthmaticus, asthma non responsive to medication and had been critical for over 24 hours at the time of the Experience

Was the experience difficult to express in words? Uncertain I could describe it clearly and lucidly but I did not have words to describe the feeling or the energy which I had felt and recognised.

At what time during the experience were you at your highest level of consciousness and alertness? While being in the darkness and feeling the energy of the source to my left, and being told information.

How did your highest level of consciousness and alertness during the experience compare to your normal everyday consciousness and alertness? More consciousness and alertness than normal I was acutely aware of the space and energy I was in; of the information being given to me; of the differences from normal life that were apparent around me. It felt more 'real' than my life.

Please compare your vision during the experience to your everyday vision that you had immediately prior to the time of the experience. It seemed more acute, even though I was in a dark place everything was visible

Please compare your hearing during the experience to your everyday hearing that you had immediately prior to the time of the experience. I do not recall actually hearing any sound, the space was filled with the extraordinary feeling, however I was receiving information in my head - I just didn't 'hear' it.

Did you see or hear any earthly events that were occurring during a time that your consciousness / awareness was apart from your physical / earthly body? No

What emotions did you feel during the experience? I felt loved, supported, cared for, looked after, so much more than in everyday life. I have felt loved ever since the experience. I felt safe and comfortable.

Did you pass into or through a tunnel? Uncertain I don't recall a tunnel but it was a dark space and the power source was out of sight off to my left, so I was possibly in a tunnel.

Did you see an unearthly light? No

Did you seem to encounter a mystical being or presence, or hear an unidentifiable voice? I encountered a definite being, or a voice clearly of mystical or unearthly origin
I heard a voice clearly in my head but not hearing as normally I would. The energy to my left was speaking to me and I felt there were other beings there too.

Did you encounter or become aware of any beings who previously lived on earth who are described by name in religions (for example: Jesus, Muhammad, Buddha, etc.)? No

Did you encounter or become aware of any deceased (or alive) beings? Yes My great aunt and grandmother were being me, I felt that they were very tall and were supporting me in some way

Did you become aware of past events in your life during your experience? No

Did you seem to enter some other, unearthly world? Some unfamiliar and strange place
It was a dark, warm, supportive place, possibly a tunnel, a space unlike anything I had experienced.

Did time seem to speed up or slow down? Everything seemed to be happening at once; or time stopped or lost all meaning
I was not aware of time at all, I was existing in this strange but comfortable space feeling the most incredible feeling I had ever experienced.

Did you suddenly seem to understand everything? Everything about the universe
At the time I knew I was getting information but it was not all clear. Only the bit about everyone matters. However I have had so much understanding revealed to me since I believe I received a lot of information during the Experience.

Did you reach a boundary or limiting physical structure? Uncertain
I felt I was in a restricted space like a room.

Did you come to a border or point of no return? No

Did scenes from the future come to you? No

During your experience, did you encounter any specific information / awareness suggesting that there either is (or is not) continued existence after earthly life (“life after death”)? Yes The presence of my dead relatives suggested this; I was also aware that I was in a space that was not usual human life.

During your experience, did you encounter any specific information / awareness that God or a supreme being either does (or does not) exist? Yes I was constantly aware of a powerful being - energy source - out of sight to my left - and I understood that this entity was powerful and benign and was giving me information.

During your experience, did you encounter any specific information / awareness that you either did (or did not) exist prior to this lifetime? No

During your experience, did you encounter any specific information / awareness that a mystical universal connection or unity/oneness either does (or does not) exist? Yes I was given a strong sense of this in being told that every soul matters and that everyone is connected.

During your experience, did you encounter any specific information / awareness regarding earthly life’s meaning or purpose? No

During your experience, did you encounter any specific information / awareness regarding love? Yes The amazing feeling filling the space was love, in a deeper sense than I had ever experienced. I have felt loved ever since the experience.

During your experience, did you encounter any other specific information / awareness that you have not shared in other questions that is relevant to living our earthly lives? No

Did you have a sense of knowing special knowledge or purpose? Yes I felt like I had been given a lot of information but could not recall it all at the time. It was too much to process. I believe I have accessed this information over time since the Experience.

What occurred during your experience included: Content that was entirely not consistent with the beliefs you had at the time of your experience The experience was completely outside my ideas around death, afterlife etc at the time. I did not really believe in reincarnation. The Experience was a gift in awakening me.

How accurately do you remember the experience in comparison to other life events that occurred around the time of the experience? I remember the experience more accurately than other life events that occurred around the time of th It is now 25 years and I have much better recall of the Experience experience than other significant events at the time or since. I can not quite still feel the beautiful sense of peace and love but sometimes I can almost get a touch of it.The details of the Experience have remained clear in my mind.

Discuss any changes that might have occurred in your life after your experience: I have developed a significant sense of understanding of what life is really about; have a clear sense of purpose and understand my path; and I live my truth every day. I have come to a place where it is very important to me to help the world and people be in their truth and for the world to be a better place and for humans to live to their true potential.

Did you have any changes in your values or beliefs after the experience that occurred as a result of the experience? Yes Life was more sacred; had much more meaning. I had always been compassionate but this was intensified, and I was unable to squash a bug or kill a fly after the Experience. Life became so much more precious.

Do you have any psychic, non-ordinary or other special gifts after your experience that you did not have before the experience? Yes I may have always been psychic as there were signs of this when I was a child, but at the time of the Experience I did not think of myself as psychic. Since the Experience I have slowly stepped into my belief in my psychic abilities.

Are there one or several parts of your experience that are especially meaningful or significant to you? The whole experience still feels significant, however the energy source I felt and the feeling it emanated were powerfully meaningful, as the overwhelming sense was of love and care and kindness.

Have you ever shared this experience with others? Yes I told a few people close to me at the time; some seemed to try to understand and others couldn't. I tend to tell people these days when I come across people who need to hear it, either to help them open up or grow; or to get a sense of comfort from the knowledge.

Did you have any knowledge of near death experience (Experience) prior to your experience? No

What did you believe about the reality of your experience shortly (days to weeks) after it happened: Experience was definitely real It was real. I knew it was real. It is hard to explain why this feels so clear, but it just did.

What do you believe about the reality of your experience at the current time: Experience was definitely real. Over the years my understanding of myself, the world and matters beyond the world and our human understanding have increased so much and I believe a lot of my growth was initiated by the Experience.

Have your relationships changed specifically as a result of your experience? Yes My marriage changed and eventually ended as I was so altered by the experience, although it took a long time to unfold. My relationships with people these days are completely different to how they were at the time of the Experience - I am more effective in being able to help others, as I am so much more complete in myself.

Have your religious beliefs/spiritual practices changed specifically as a result of your experience? Yes I have explored my own spirituality and am very comfortable in being myself now.

At any time in your life, has anything ever reproduced any part of the experience? Yes Sometimes I meet a person who invokes a sense of that lovely feeling of 'home' I experienced. I feel these may be past life connections. Occasionally I feel a person's energy that matches mine and again there is a sense of familiarity that invokes the Experience.

Is there anything else that you would like to add about your experience? It was an absolute gift in my life and the further I get in time from the experience the more I feel I understand it. As I develop I have more understanding and am able to access the knowledge I believe I was given. I feel I have an obligation to share the experience.
