Experience description:

I was quite hot outside and I was at school sitting an end of year test for Music. We had to listen to five fragments of music and then answer a question about each fragment. When the fourth fragment begun, a high paced song with a firm beat, I felt myself rushing out of my body with incredible speed. Within a second I was speeding through the solar system. I whooshed over all the planets and I could tell all their names, like they were written in space. I was flying somewhat like superman, with my arms wide, willing myself to go faster.

Behind me I saw some kind of light, shimmering in and out of sight, like it was trying to catch up with me. In the end it failed, which made me to understand, I was going faster than the speed of light.

Three things I noticed about how I looked: I was wearing very comfortable clothes, wide pants, a plain t-shirt, some kind of blouse and sneakers. I really noticed those clothes because they were so nice and felt so good. The second thing I noticed was a very long golden thread that was somehow attached to me, like I was a kite or something. Next to that I was also wearing some sort of device on my hip, roughly the size and shape of a walkman.

While I was flying I felt very happy and really great. It had been hot in the classroom, but here there was a fresh wind blowing in my face, sweeping my hair back. In the end I did not dare to go any faster, because I feared I would 'tumble over', I don't really know how to say it, but I knew that if I would go any faster, I would start making somersaults. I also knew that this would mean I'd die, but that knowledge did not bother me in the least, I just did not go any faster.

All the time the song of the test was all around me and it was not just music, but somehow it had become a part of me and the universe.

I can't remember smelling anything.

When the music stopped I was suddenly back in my body in the classroom. I looked around, but nobody seemed to have noticed anything. I just was back in my seat next to the window feeling fresh and windswept. I seemed like my hair had been blown back, or at least it felt like it.

The only thing I thought about at that moment was that I didn't know the answer to the question about the piece of music, so I made a wild guess.

After the test I walked out of the classroom, totally bedazzled and excited. I went to the toilet and sat there for some time, thinking about what I had just experienced. I was (and am) absolutely sure it was not a dream. It really happened.

Any associated medications or substances with the potential to affect the experience?     No

Was the kind of experience difficult to express in words? Yes

It is hard to express, because I experienced things that are physically impossible, like going faster than light and being in space without freezing or suffocating, so it is hard to compare it with things others can relate to.

At the time of this experience, was there an associated life threatening event?          No

What was your level of consciousness and alertness during the experience?           I was fully conscious and aware of everything that happened. It was just like I really was out there, not just my soul, but my body as well. Because I could hear and see and feel.

Was the experience dream like in any way?   I was dreamlike in that it was impossible in normal life, but it didn't feel like a dream, it was much more real.

Did you experience a separation of your consciousness from your body?     Yes

I felt myself rushing out of my body at an incredible speed.

What emotions did you feel during the experience?            I felt very happy and really great. The music was so beautiful, my clothes were so comfortable and it was just awe-inspiring to see the planets of the solar system up close. Especially Jupiter really impressed me.

Did you hear any unusual sounds or noises?           No, just the music that invoked the experience in the first place. When the music stopped I was back in my body.

LOCATION DESCRIPTION:  Did you recognize any familiar locations or any locations from familiar religious teachings or encounter any locations inhabited by incredible or amazing creatures?    Yes

It was just the solar system, with all the planets in it. I did not go outside the system.

Did you see a light?           Yes

There was a light that seemed to follow me, but as I was going faster than the speed of ligt, it could not keep up.

Did you meet or see any other beings?           No

Did you notice how your 5 senses were working, and if so, how were they different?          Yes

I could see normally and I felt the wind on my face. The music was somehow all around me, so my hearing was different. I did not smell or taste anything.

Did you reach a boundary or limiting physical structure?             Yes

Yes, I knew that if I would go any faster, I would tumble over and die. This knowledge did not frighten me, I just didn't go any faster.

How has the experience affected your relationships? Daily life? Religious practices? Career choices?       It has not really affected me, but I carry the memory of the experience wherever I go and sometimes I feel limited, being in this body, because I know that when I am out of my body so much more is possible.

Have you shared this experience with others?         Yes

I told it to my mother a few years ago, but I'm not sure what she thought, maybe she didn't believe me or she thought it was the wrong time or place. We've never talked about it again.

Recently I shared it with some fellow students when we were exchanging paranormal experiences. They were very much interested and asked all kind of questions. They really believed me immediately, which felt really good.

What emotions did you experience following your experience?  I felt stupid for not being able to answer the question about the song, but I felt great and happy about the experience itself.

What was the best and worst part of your experience?      The was no worst, it was all very beautiful and peaceful. The best part was flying really close to Jupiter, for some reason that really impressed me. I could see the 'eye' on the lower half of the planet.

Following the experience, have you had any other events in your life, medications or substances which reproduced any part of the experience?         No

Did the questions asked and information you provided accurately and comprehensively describe your experience?               Yes

Yes, I think I told everything I know and can put into words.
