Experience description:

I was around 5 yrs old, I was on our front porch and a snake had wrapped around my ankle/leg my Mom had come out with a broom and told me to keep dancing (guess I was jumping around) and she knocked it off. I guess it had scratched my skin but not a deep puncture and my Mother started treating me (back in those days we pretty much did old remedies, etc.) I remember being in the bed burning up with fever and my Mother sitting in a chair beside the bed tending to me and my Father standing by my Mother. Around that time I could see myself not only lying in bed but floating above close to ceiling and off to the side, I remember seeing myself, my Mother and Father and my Father asking my Mother if I was going to die. My Mother replied, "No Ebert she is not going to die."

That is about all I remember. I have had several more experiences OBE, NDE, and Dreams that actually happened years later. These all occurred between 1962 - 2007.  Have often thought of having hypnosis to see if I could go back and see if there was more to the experiences but never did.

Any associated medications or substances with the potential to affect the experience?   No

Was the kind of experience difficult to express in words?   Yes    because at 5 yrs old although I am very confident in what I seen and experienced i but never spoke of it until recently I suppose I never wanted anyone to think I was just imagining, etc.

At the time of this experience, was there an associated life threatening event?   Uncertain

What was your level of consciousness and alertness during the experience?   I believe I was conscious and my alertness I suppose was somewhat lessened due to such a high fever.

Was the experience dream like in any way?   No did not feel like a dream.

Did you experience a separation of your consciousness from your body?   Yes   I was definitely above myself floating close to ceiling, with both my floating self and myself in bed, my floating self did not feel physical but could see and hear everything, myself in bed (I think) felt the presence of self floating, and all these years I can not recall anymore than that.

What emotions did you feel during the experience?    I believe peaceful, at one point when my mother spoke to my father I felt humor (I suppose from the way she said it)I think I also may have felt scared but it didn't last long.

Did you hear any unusual sounds or noises?    NO

Did you recognize any familiar locations or any locations from familiar religious teachings or encounter any locations inhabited by incredible or amazing creatures?    No

Did you see a light?    No

Did you meet or see any other beings?    No

Did you experiment while out of the body or in another, altered state?   Uncertain

Did you observe or hear anything regarding people or events during your experience that could be verified later?   Uncertain

Did you notice how your 5 senses were working, and if so, how were they different?    Uncertain

Did you have any sense of altered space or time?    Yes    Yes, I believe it felt like there was a gap in time....?

Did you have a sense of knowing, special knowledge, universal order and/or purpose?    Yes    well at only 5 yrs old the one thing that has stayed with me from that experience is that I knew something that most do not and maybe why I never discussed it I have always just listened and watched and researched.

Did you reach a boundary or limiting physical structure?    Uncertain    not certain but I think I just felt it was time to go back to me.

Did you become aware of future events?    Uncertain    not during this particular experience but others.

Were you involved in or aware of a decision regarding your return to the body?    Yes    just felt time to go back to me.

Did you have any psychic, paranormal or other special gifts following the experience that you did not have prior to the experience?    Uncertain    maybe, when best friend of 30+ yrs passed I was visited by a tribal shaman (medicine man) not sure..........than a year later a unique experience with nature this beautiful dragonfly that insisted on coming into my home for days; than cut my friend in several layers and related that to my brother having open heart surgery.

Did you have any changes of attitudes or beliefs following the experience?   Uncertain    just know all of my experiences actually happened and just trying to figure everything out and find answers.

How has the experience affected your relationships? Daily life? Religious practices? Career choices?    Relationships - just want everyone to be happier and not waste life.

Daily Life-still on life long journey trying to get answers.

Religious-well, that is a lengthy thought, but I feel like there is more out there we just do not fully understand it all yet.

Career choices-due to my health or family issues haven't been able to pursue my goals of career.

Has your life changed specifically as a result of your experience?   Uncertain    I think so, if I had not experienced that at such an early age (and several experiences since) I may have not looked at things with an open mind/heart.

Have you shared this experience with others?    Yes    Just in the past few years.............no I don't think they have been influenced think they already felt that there is something legitimate to some of these claims they hear about.

What was the best and worst part of your experience?   not sure there was a best or worst part.

Is there anything else you would like to add concerning the experience?    I believe I just came away with a sense of knowing............not sure at that age  could grasp all of the knowing.

Following the experience, have you had any other events in your life, medications or substances which reproduced any part of the experience?    Uncertain           not of that particular experience but as mentioned before I have had several other experiences and the reoccurring dreams when I was around 14 yrs old definitely materialized in real life.

Did the questions asked and information you provided accurately and comprehensively describe your experience?    Yes     Yes, I believe so.
