Experience description:

My experience dates back to year 1998. Unlike most conventional NDEs, I did not experience death nor dangerous circumstances. Everything happened at night. I was sound asleep in my student bedroom when I had a dream. Indeed, this dream differed from conventional dreams, because I felt like there was a very strong invisible presence in my bedroom and although asleep, I was perfectly aware of it, however, its very difficult for me to describe how. In my dream, I was on top of a hill which I know very well in my country capital city, Yaound in Cameroon, and I felt like I was kind of sitting on a skate board, somewhat like those teenagers use. Sitting on this board, I felt like somebody pushed me, and I started to rush downhill at amazing speed, so fast I cant describe it, fairly like formula 1 racing cars. Once down the hill, I started to rise in the air, quite like I would fly, and there, although physically still asleep, I was perfectly aware I was not in my physical body anymore, this body was still laying in my bedroom. I started to rise higher and higher, and when I raised my eyes, I felt like the clouds where parting away on my path, but mainly I could not slow down, I kept rising higher and higher, when all of a sudden, I was in totally indescribable atmosphere. I started to slow down as if I had reached my maximal height, and I heard a very pleasant music, and I had never heard anything so beautiful on Earth, no sound compares to this. Then, I felt kind of enveloped in a very sweet and invisible presence, somewhat like a baby  swathed in its cradle. I found myself in a very bright light, the music kept playing on, I felt incredibly well, very well. The only feeling I had was the love which flowed from this light. The only thing I saw was the blazing light that enveloped me, while feeling the sweetness of the Presence amidst the music. Things lasted this way a few seconds, then, I felt kind of hurled downwards, and in a split second I found myself in my bedroom, under the form of a floating being. I saw my body on my bed and I was immediately sort of sucked back inside it. While penetrating inside my physical body, I felt like you put a glove on, or when you wear socks, this was for me the irrevocable proof that there is indeed a dissociation between my physical body and my spirit.

Was the kind of experience difficult to express in words? Yes     The events, as you experience or feel them, do not compare to anything known on Earth.

At the time of this experience, was there an associated life threatening event?          No

At what time during the experience were you at your highest level of consciousness and alertness?    All the time, but the maximum was reached when I was in front of the light.

How did your highest level of consciousness and alertness during the experience compare to your normal every day consciousness and alertness?    Normal consciousness and alertness

All the time, but the maximum was reached when I was in front of the light.

Did your vision differ in any way from your normal, everyday vision (in any aspect, such as clarity, field of vision, colors, brightness, depth perception degree of solidness/transparency of objects, etc.)?  Yes     Sense perceptions have a very different dimension, you feel like everything is accelerated to a higher level. On the one hand I was in front a very bright light, but on the other hand I did not feel blinded, rather a total well being.

Did your hearing differ in any way from your normal, everyday hearing (in any aspect, such as clarity, ability to recognize source of sound, pitch, loudness, etc.)?              Yes     The music seemed to me both very sweet and very profound, a bit like it would penetrate inside of me. And it is difficult to me to compare to earthly music.

Did you experience a separation of your consciousness from your body?     Yes

What emotions did you feel during the experience?            At the beginning of the dream I did not feel any particular emotion, but in front of the Light I had a feeling of fullness and perfect sweetness.

Did you have a sense of knowing special knowledge, universal order and/or purpose?     No

Did you reach a boundary or limiting physical structure? No

Did you become aware of future events?       No

Did you have any psychic, paranormal or other special gifts following the experience you did not have prior to the experience?     Uncertain      Gifts as such, no, but sometime I happen to feel celestial beings next to me in various circumstances, although my physical eyes do not see them, its like a sensation.

Have you shared this experience with others?         Yes     Sometime, reactions range from disbelief to curiosity. The fact to meet skeptical people at the beginning when I talked about it, led me to stop sharing.

Did you have any knowledge of near death experience (NDE) prior to your experience?    No

How did you view the reality of your experience shortly (days to weeks) after it happened:            Experience was definitely real    The fact that I sensed the presence of celestial beings next to me, did assure the reality of my experience.

How do you currently view the reality of your experience:            Experience was definitely real            I was in a state of total awareness.

Have your relationships changed specifically as a result of your experience?           No

Have your religious beliefs/practices changed specifically as a result of your experience?            Yes     I have always been a believer, this enhanced my beliefs.
