EXPERIENCE DESCRIPTION

I am French and a former fighter pilot in the air force. In 1986, when I had just taken off from the base, I suddenly went out of my body, projected on my left, still inside the cockpit. So I saw myself  laterally. Frightened by the experience, which lasted only a few short seconds, I immediately returned to my body. I have a fairly vivid memory of that moment despite the thirty years that have passed.

Any associated medications or substances with the potential to affect the experience?   No           

Was the kind of experience difficult to express in words?           No      

At the time of this experience, was there an associated life threatening event?        Uncertain            More or less moderate risks linked to the exercise of the fighter pilot job.

What was your level of consciousness and alertness during the experience?          High level, given the time when it happened (a few minutes after take off).

            Was the experience dream like in any way?  I don't' think so.

Did you experience a separation of your consciousness from your body?     Yes     I was clearly on the side of my body, external to it.

What emotions did you feel during the experience?           Scared.

Did you hear any unusual sounds or noises?          No.
