Experience description:

My sister was dying from breast cancer therapy. The drugs she was given were killing her. I wanted to help in any way possible and decided to try to send her  energy through a specific meditation.

I (and her grown son with me in the same room) turned off the lights in the waiting room of the intensive care unit. We were the only two people there.

We agreed our goal was to try to help her with the three problems that were the cause of her physical distress (lower her temperature, increase her white blood cell count, and increase her blood pressure).

After closing my eyes and beginning to meditate on correcting these three conditions my sister gently appeared smiling at me while gently floating in front of me in the blackness of my meditation. I could see her whole body as if suspended in mid air. The vision was totally silent and hyper real, more real than anything I had ever experienced including daily life.

She was wearing a long white gown that covered one shoulder and surrounding her whole body was a beautiful golden translucent glowing envelope of light that was about three inches thick. This Light was fully conscious. I felt it was God. It was the most beautiful indescribable gold color that was also sparkling like glitter. Emanating from this glow in all directions (with a "vanishing point" near the center of her body) were what seemed like hundreds of more solid golden rays that went out of my field of vision in all directions. They were gently moving as if they weren't fixed to the golden glow surrounding her body, but gently sliding around on the surface of it.

Along with this vision was the most incredible feeling of peace and love emanating from her and the light, an overwhelming love that was beyond words. My sister was looking at me and smiling an ear to ear smile of absolute total joy while surrounded and infused by this gloriously conscious Light.

The vision lasted maybe 20 seconds and then faded. I opened my eyes at exactly the same second as her son who was also meditating with me. We just sat there staring at each other for a few seconds. Suddenly he jumped up and ran from the waiting room to the Intensive Care room where my sister was. After several minutes he came back, tears streaming down his face as he told me that all three of the health issues we had hoped to influence had incredibly and dramatically changed for the better. We felt our efforts had made a difference and had helped her turn the corner of the life threatening situation.

The reversal of her condition didn't long and my sister "died" one day later.

We were devastated and didn't understand what had happened as we thought we had helped her. I didn't understand the purpose of my vision. I was left reeling from the experience.

One week later I developed some film in my camera and there was one photograph of my sister that matched exactly the expression on her face from the vision. Exactly. It had been taken two days before her "death" but while she was in her hospital room just before her breast cancer treatment.

About two weeks after that I picked up a copy of "A Course in Miracles" on the shelf in front of me in a metaphysical bookstore. I thought to myself, "if I need to read this book, whatever I read at random right now has to be relevant to my life". I opened the book and what I read was a two page description of the visionary experience I had of my sister and what it meant when someone saw it. I was stunned. I bought the book, took it home and when I tried to find the passage again to read it more thoroughly, it was not there. I've looked, page by page, twice in that book and have not seen that description again. I'm not sure it's actually there. I suspect it may have been a specific message meant only for me. (If anyone knows this description and has seen it in the book, please let me know.)

For about a month afterward my sister appeared to several people including her son. There were numerous physical events that let her friends and family know she was absolutely fine.

Was the kind of experience difficult to express in words? Yes     While the experience in general is not difficult to explain, the actual colors and feelings are. For the first time in my life I came to understand the term "there are no words" to accurately describe exactly what I saw and felt.

At the time of this experience, was there an associated life threatening event?          Yes     My sister was dying from the treatment for breast cancer. She had undergone preparations for a bone marrow transplant and the strong drugs were killing her body. I thought that I might be able to somehow help her by sending her energy in a specific meditation.

At what time during the experience were you at your highest level of consciousness and alertness?    The whole time.

How did your highest level of consciousness and alertness during the experience compare to your normal every day consciousness and alertness?    More consciousness and alertness than normal

If your highest level of consciousness and alertness during the experience was different from your normal every day consciousness and alertness, please explain:            The whole time.

Did your vision differ in any way from your normal, everyday vision (in any aspect, such as clarity, field of vision, colors, brightness, depth perception degree of solidness/transparency of objects, etc.)?  Yes     As described above.

Did your hearing differ in any way from your normal, everyday hearing (in any aspect, such as clarity, ability to recognize source of sound, pitch, loudness, etc.)?            No

Did you experience a separation of your consciousness from your body?     No

What emotions did you feel during the experience?            Peace and all consuming Love.

Did you pass into or through a tunnel or enclosure?          No

Did you see a light?           Yes     As described above.

Did you meet or see any other beings?           Yes     My sister.

Did you experience a review of past events in your life?    No

Did you observe or hear anything regarding people or events during your experience that could be verified later?          Yes     The description I read in the "Course in Miracles" book, and the vision as represented in the St. Germaine "chart" seemed to verbally and visually explain certain aspects of the experience.

Have you shared this experience with others?         Yes     I shared the experience with my Nephew immediately after he returned to the waiting room to tell me of my sister's improved condition. He was happy to hear of my experience and in the next two weeks had several of his own.

Over the years I have told some people about this experience. I can only say that I can speak from personal experience about this profound vision and am happy to offer it to anyone as a source of inspiration or truth that something wonderful exists beyond this physical life.

Over time the impact of this on me has faded but I try to remember it as a source of strength during life's trials.

Did you have any knowledge of near death experience (NDE) prior to your experience?    Yes

How did you view the reality of your experience shortly (days to weeks) after it happened:            Experience was definitely real    I viewed the experience as a gift from my sister. She had always been a spiritual person interested in Metaphysics and taught me things over the years.

Were there one or several parts of the experience especially meaningful or significant to you?            Connected to my experience were others that friends experienced as visitations from my recently departed sister. She continues to visit me (now 19 years after the original experience) but I don't consciously know it unless it is brought to my attention by others who can see or hear her.

For me the light was the most impactful. Not being able to accurately describe the beauty of the color, and the feeling, the consciousness embodied by the light is the most amazing thing I'm left to ponder.

How do you currently view the reality of your experience:            Experience was definitely real    I consider the experience a rare gift that I sometimes remember as a source of strength during especially trying times in life. I believe my sister showed me her Divine Self as a message of reassurance and strength for me. Years later I discovered the "chart" that is used by the St. Germaine Foundation as a vision of our true selves. This illustration captures fairly accurately certain aspects of the vision I was given. Interestingly my sister was interested in the St. Germaine teachings for about 5 years before her "death'.

Have your relationships changed specifically as a result of your experience?           No

Have your religious beliefs/practices changed specifically as a result of your experience?
Yes     I feel as if I was directed to certain information due to the vision.

Following the experience, have you had any other events in your life, medications or substances which reproduced any part of the experience?         No

Is there anything else you would like to add concerning the experience?        No.

Did the questions asked and information you provided so far accurately and comprehensively describe your experience?         No
