Experience description:

I was asleep and I could hear a loud, very loud mechanical machine.  It sounded like a roller coaster ride starting up.  I left my body and floated down the road.  I could see everything as it was but from above.  I knew I could go anywhere in the world and see anyone that I wanted to see.  I knew I could go as far as I wanted to go, but I didn't want to go far away because my kids were sleeping beside me.  I don't know why it happened, but I realized that there's plenty of freedom when you leave your body.   

On a different occasion about 4 years ago, I was asleep and had a similar experience.  My son was 16 years old and moved in with his dad a few states away.  I missed him terribly and one night I had the same thing happen where I could leave my body.  I went to my son and saw him sleeping.  I told my self I can't be with you, but at least I can watch you while you sleep. A few months later I saw my son and told him about my dreamed and described his apartment that I had never seen before in detail, including the size of his bed, what his room looked like and even the color of his sheets.  He said I was exactly correct.

Any associated medications or substances with the potential to affect the experience?     No

At the time of this experience, was there an associated life threatening event?          No      

What was your level of consciousness and alertness during the experience?           sleeping

            Was the experience dream like in any way?   I was asleep but it wasn't like a normal dream.  I had full control of everything I was seeing.

 Did you experience a separation of your consciousness from your body?     Yes    

What emotions did you feel during the experience?            total freedom

Did you hear any unusual sounds or noises?           The first time I heard a loud mechanical machinery noise and it was extremely loud.

LOCATION DESCRIPTION:  Did you recognize any familiar locations or any locations from familiar religious teachings or encounter any locations inhabited by incredible or amazing creatures?    Yes            the first time I saw my neighborhood

Did you meet or see any other beings?           Yes     my son

Did you experiment while out of the body or in another, altered state? Yes    

I visited my son a few states away and described everything about his home.

Did you observe or hear anything regarding people or events during your experience that could be verified later?          Yes     I described where my son was living.  I could see it perfectly. I still remember it.  In a dream I always forget.  In an OBE you don't forget.

Were you involved in or aware of a decision regarding your return to the body?       Yes     The first time it happened to me I felt just a little nervous about going too far from my children.

Did you have any psychic, paranormal or other special gifts following the experience that you did not have prior to the experience?         Yes     I have a lot of dreams now that come true.  Plus I had a quick flash of Laci Peterson not long after her remains were found.  I saw her in her kitchen bending over to work on something and she was hit in the head with I think a hammer.

Did you have any changes of attitudes or beliefs following the experience?   Yes     Yes, I feel like when you die, you are free from your body that alters us.

How has the experience affected your relationships? Daily life? Religious practices? Career choices?       I don't know

Has your life changed specifically as a result of your experience?         Uncertain     

Have you shared this experience with others?         Yes     My son was surprised that I had such vivid descriptions of his bedroom

What emotions did you experience following your experience?  I wondered if it would happen again and where would I like to go next

What was the best and worst part of your experience?      The first time it was just an incredible feeling of pure freedom and the second time I was happy to be with my child

Is there anything else you would like to add concerning the experience?        I just wonder why it happens and how to do it anytime I wish.  What triggers it?

Did the questions asked and information you provided accurately and comprehensively describe your experience?               Yes     some of the questions you asked made me think you've heard it all before, and that it must happen to other people.

Please offer any suggestions you may have to improve this questionnaire.    Yes, I feel strongly that the power of love is what causes it.  Like the love of a child.  Nothing can keep you away from a person you love that much!
