Experience description:

 I vividly remember the feeling of a white light and an absolute peace. I knew I was safe. I new is a good way that IT was over. The IT was the active alcoholism ( an some drugs). At the time of your experience was there an associated life-threatening event?   Uncertain  Severe alcoholism - I was told while in Detox that had I continued drinking my liver would have exploded in another month

Was the experience difficult to express in words?  Uncertain     It has taken me a while to "come to" with this experience.

At what time during the experience were you at your highest level of consciousness and alertness?    When I got up out of bed and walked to the phone. The white felt like a blanket.

How did your highest level of consciousness and alertness during the experience compare to your normal everyday consciousness and alertness?      More consciousness and alertness than normal   It was different. I was free and secure. I felt peace knowing that my suffering was over.

Please compare your vision during the experience to your everyday vision that you had immediately prior to the time of the experience.   My vision was relief. That is all I saw. I saw relief as I dialed. I saw surrender as I dialed the phone. I do remember where the phone was in my kitchen and the presence of a white blanket, light in the little kitchen.

Please compare your hearing during the experience to your everyday hearing that you had immediately prior to the time of the experience.   Do not remember. It may have been acute.

Did you see or hear any earthly events that were occurring during a time that your consciousness / awareness was apart from your physical / earthly body?   No  

What emotions did you feel during the experience?   Peace, calm, surrender, relief, trembling inside  

Did you pass into or through a tunnel?   Uncertain  

Did you see an unearthly light?   Yes   it was like a blanket

Did you seem to encounter a mystical being or presence, or hear an unidentifiable voice?   No

Did you encounter or become aware of any beings who previously lived on earth who are described by name in religions (for example: Jesus, Muhammad, Buddha, etc.)?   No  

Did you encounter or become aware of any deceased (or alive) beings?   No  

Did you become aware of past events in your life during your experience?   No  

Did you seem to enter some other, unearthly world?   Some unfamiliar and strange place
It was just a safe place. I knew it was okay. I was surrendered. The fight was over.

Did time seem to speed up or slow down?   Everything seemed to be happening at once; or time stopped or lost all meaning
I just felt like I was floating.  There was a pull coming from someplace.

Did you suddenly seem to understand everything?   No

Did you reach a boundary or limiting physical structure?   No

Did you come to a border or point of no return?   I came to a definite conscious decision to "return" to life
It was a feeling of I know that I am dying - not sure if I was feeling a physical death, but definitely a spiritual death and the relief was coming now. A weight was being lifted.

Did scenes from the future come to you?  No

During your experience, did you encounter any specific information / awareness that a mystical universal connection or unity/oneness either does (or does not) exist?   Yes   There was something very mystical that happened. I feel something in my soul when I share this story. I feel enveloped in caring, in protection.

During your experience, did you encounter any specific information / awareness regarding love?   Yes   I would say that having a sense of" Its time now to stop " ( stop the drinking ) was truly based on love.

What occurred during your experience included:   Content that was entirely not consistent with the beliefs you had at the time of your experience   I lived in fear dread severe heart ache. The floating experience was calm and safe,

How accurately do you remember the experience in comparison to other life events that occurred around the time of the experience?   I remember the experience as accurately as other life events that occurred around the time of the experience   I see a black and white picture. I am coming from a very black place and over in the corner is this presence of white. Something is drawing me to it. I am floating to the phone. I think someone is with me.

Discuss any changes that might have occurred in your life after your experience:   Sobriety, I know that God was definitely saving me from death because he had great plans for me and knew I would be doing what I am now.

Did you have any changes in your values or beliefs after the experience that occurred as a result of the experience?   Yes   Born again, my life has purpose and meaning, before I had no idea from one day to the next what was going on

Are there one or several parts of your experience that are especially meaningful or significant to you?   Just the feelings, the pull, the relief was incredible... the ability to give my self permission was un real

Do you have any psychic, non-ordinary or other special gifts after your experience that you did not have before the experience?   Uncertain   I feel I have an incredibly gift to reach connect with another persons pain, loss, grief. I have felt the presence of God within me when I am helping someone in grief or anguish.

Are there one or several parts of your experience that are especially meaningful or significant to you?     Just the feelings, the pull, the relief was incredible... the ability to give my self permission was un real

Have you ever shared this experience with others?   Yes  a couple of years  The details have become more clear as times has gone on.

What do you believe about the reality of your experience at the current time:   Experience was definitely real   Feelings are the same when I have listened to others share NDE.

Have your relationships changed specifically as a result of your experience?   Yes   Sobriety - transparent, I am awake and able to connect

Have your religious beliefs/spiritual practices changed specifically as a result of your experience?   Uncertain   I just knew it was time to welcome Jesus into my heart
