Experience description:

1973 event. I was setting in a circle of friends that attended college.  They were discussing the horrors of the Nazi concentration camps. I was very involved and suddenly felt as if I had fallen out of my chair. When I look up All I could see was a black void.  But as soon as I realized that I was in this void I stopped traveling and saw an intense light. When I looked down, all the chairs were filled. I could not figure out where I was. This is why I related it dying.  I thought that since my chair was filled I must be going to die.  When I had that thought I immediately was back in my chair. Thought the sensation of just about to take off stay with me for months, and that was scary.

1982 or 83 event was in Austin.  I was sleeping in a very dark room at someone else's house. I awoke to a noise during the night, I was looking for the digital clock to see what time it was and realized that I was looking down at it from the ceiling.  This was not a scary happening.  In fact I felt at one or at peace with everything. I haven't forgotten that feeling.
